He is reported to have interviewed Melbourne just as much as they interviewed him.

I know I would be asking alot of questions, if Melbourne approached me to coach them....

I suspect more of the former. In his media interviews about the opportunity, he's mentioned about him doing his DD on them, to see if they're a fit for him. I reckon he's decided it's not for him.

I wish him well, the club is in a very bad place. Playing list plagued by behaviour and contract stuff ups, there was some obvious problems with poor internal discipline and important people getting away with things others seem to have been sacked for.

King would want 5-6 years guaranteed surely, no turning this train around quickly.

He will make $10m over 5 years in Tasmania and doesnt even need to make finals. Just be a little better each year.

This is a smart choice. Geelong has solid structures and Melbourne need some sanity restored.

Certainly a left field appointment, but he fits the profile of what you want in a senior coach.

Exposure to different club environments (St Kilda, Western Bulldogs, Gold Coast and Geelong) and he has 15-years of assistant coaching experience behind him.

Really thought Buckley was a certainty to be appointed. Probably being earmarked for the Tasmania job.
