Sorry to intrude, cannot wait to play your mob!!! I’ll be honest and say I can’t stand you blokes but the way you do things is great and there’s certainly admiration. 100% reakn whoever wins will win the flag.

I 100% think we can beat u blokes but similar to round 6 i think it’s just a mental thing we lack against u guys but considering we were useless on the road this year to the opposite in the finals says a lot about our group, and it’ll be great seeing our youth and energy play against the best run and disciplined team your mob.

Not sure how to escape that game next week.
Just can not face it.

When was the last time we beat the turds/wees in a prelim?

Well, we've only played them once in a PF. Dunno, I think Geelong if we can play with the focus and determination of last week, it should hold us in good stead. I am astounded by the resurrection of Gunston, he looked more washed up than anything when at the Loins, and it seemed the Hawks for a period of time just swapped Gunston and Bruest as the sub in and out for a lot of last year and the start of this season. Suddenly he's playing like it's 2014 again!

But we have much better quality mids than the Crows, when you think about it and look at the names they have, Geelong's are much better. I am confident we can put the pressure on early and nullify the Hawk's strengths, and hurt them the other way with our forwards.

We have played the Dawks 10 times in finals, losing two GF's, one PF in 2013, an EF in 2000, a QF in 2014 and a 2nd Semi in 1991. We can get this done!!

Interesting that list involves five different types of Final. Not sure a hell of a lot of clubs can lay claim to that...well post 1993 anyway no side has had a chance to play a genuine 2nd semi.

'89 onwards, I believe we've only really lost one big final to them as favourites: the 2008 GF. The 2000 EF we may have been favourites but it was a lower stakes game.

Hawks also had a few sore looking boys, the only annoyance is they basically could rest guys last in the game for longer periods because Crom were a basketcase.

I.E Gunston was on the bench for like 16 minutes at one point.

Felt a bit pre-seasonish to me, and I mean that genuinely. I think I'd feel the same way if we won it.

I know it probably sounds weird, but there have been prelims that hurt more than losing that GF for me.

Maybe because we had so many more real world issues going on at the time, it helped put things in perspective a bit.

It was definitely a bit weird and hard to get into during the lead up.

That first quarter though was just a start to finish adrenalin rush

Not an intrusion at all, this game is building as game of the year. The match ups seem pretty crazy, looking forward to them.

Question though, Weddle to me seems to spend a lot of time forward. Dempsey also. Are they going to actually be matched up? Or do they just see each other at a CBA and not get within 10m of each other after that?

Probably correct- whichever team beats Hawks or Cats wins it, from my pov.
I was hoping you guys may have been 1 year off winning a flag this year, because the next 5 years or so you'll be near impossible to beat, if you get those recruits.

Put some money on a Hawthorn win and then you can’t lose. That’s what I do in finals.
Also much better if we are favourites

Pretty simple, we are clearly a better team than the hawks, THEY are the ones who will really "need to bring it" to try to upset a superior team, not the other way around.

We have BEEN the better team through the year but now it's about who's the better team ON THE DAY.

The Hawks will be up for this. They'll relish the underdog tag and will be chafing at the bit to run us off our feet.

They have the means to jump out of the blocks and slam a few goals real quick, which they'll do if we come out half asleep at the first bounce like we've done a number of times this year.

I'll back our system if we don't get jumped, panic or come out 5% off our game.

We have Meek to contend with, and MUST shut down Newcombe and Weddle.

We also need to kick straight, avoid the Iranian bunker bombs into our forward line, and maintain concentration.

Lets do this!
