Hawks and Cats seem the best 2 right now, should be a cracking prelim.

Imagine dropping our side into the Prelim this week with the same pressure that will be on and what would happen 😳

Would be 10 goals a qtr probably.

I remember around the time we started making finals around 02/03 a younger Benny Cousins saying he would go to Melbourne to watch the big Prelim/Grand Finals to see what is expected in big games and get the feeling. You'd love some of our younger up n coming leaders to do the same but they have to want to do it

You'd have to be pretty silly to go onto an opposition board (Adelaide) and comment the way they did - see screenshot. Result...they were suspended lol. Screenshot_20250913_073734_Chrome.jpg

Your loss, the quality of play is way up from a few years ago and our side is very much on the rise. Once you get over the fact that scoring is lower (matches are also shorter, but whatever) you might find that there are a lot of talented athletes out on the ground playing a really great sport.
I watch the Afl and think to myself wow these guys are amazing never in my wildest dreams could I compete at this level . Even at colts level it's amazing the level these days

I watch the Aflw and think that now even at 40 I could play this league.

It just doesn't excite me . But each to their own

Nothing wrong with AFLW, but it is and never will be close to the standard of AFL. Neither will the WAFL or VFL, doesn't mean they aren't good leagues to follow, but it's perfectly understandable that someone doesn't find it entertaining enough to watch regularly.
I would've somewhat agreed when the Eagles were dogshit under previous coaches but they're quite exciting to watch now under Daisy.

I went to the first ever game at Princes Park and boy has the standard improved since then.

Let's not pretend thats all that post was though. If you just don't want to watch it that's fine, no need to denigrate the team and the league.

You probably could but its like when Serena Williams said theres no way we want to play the boys, they hit harder, run faster etc.

No213 beat both Williams sisters or something.

So yeah you probably could run out and be OK but what Ive seen the AFLW has improved each season since it began, bigger scores now too.

Some men's scores are lower now which no one mentions

Sit him down to watch the eagles play their final. Just don’t tell him it’s a 2018 replay.
He would know . He has watched enough Eagles games the last 4 years to know which is sad . Doesn't help he has barely seen a win

He was watching the crows v hawks last night and could see Watson's antics to the crowd and thought it was great .

This club is swear 🤬 and they have no one to blame but their own ineptitude. It's bad enough we are so terrible on field but all the off field stuff over the last 10 years , the terrible drafting , the getting reamed every trade period, selling high picks bringing in spuds for picks when they should come in fir nothing if at all and the pathetic long term contracts that blind Freddy could see being a poor decisions

On women's sports more generally, I actually prefer watching some women's cricket because it's more like the cricket I grew up with without the flat tracks and massive bats that mean a nudge goes for six.

Of men's cricket, tend to prefer tests in India or really fast-paced decks, both of which test the batter. You can see that batters have been on the rules committees of international cricket for the past 30 years.

Crows desperately need a quality mid or 2.

Could do worse than going after Tom Powell. SA boy and hes not getting much of a look in when North has their full strength mids playing. Rate him
This is why I hope we go after actual midfielders this draft. Finals is all about contested footy.

For me, the season starts again. Its open slather. Every team for themselves. The pressure rises. The expectation rises. Its a different level to Home & Away footy.
Once again stating the obvious, that applies to all 8 teams and doesn't explain why a minor premier plays poorly in finals. There are many factors and permutations through the season, and in finals, that contribute to this. Finals experience, injuries, when did teams hit good form, what teams did they lose to, player outs in finals -eg Rankine and Raschelle, coaching etc. But in fairness to your comment, Crows haven't played finals for what, 8 yrs? Anyway disappointing games from Crowbots. Go Suns+Lions?

Geelong, Hawthorn and Collingwood into the last 4. Add in Freo (or Essendon) and youd have my worst possible scenario

The winner of tonight's game has the rest of the country on board
Sadly, I think whoever wins tonight will not go any further. Lions are decimated and GC iare nexperienced and look light on for grunt across the field.

Hawks are almost sure things now IMO. Will never hear the end of it.

They’re too fit, fast and hungry for Geel, Coll and Bris, and let’s face it there’s no way GC doesn’t shit the bed if they make it.
Just imagine the umpiring in a Hawks V Suns GF. They won’t know what the **** to do.

I used to play (indoor) volleyball. Pretty much any women’s team will get obliterated by a decent men’s team based purely on the size, jumping ability and power of the men. Yet I enjoy watching the women’s game more (and not just because of the spandex). Because the game is less dominated by power you get fewer serves out and longer rallies, because the men hit so hard that if they get a spike through it’s very likely to hit the floor.

The main thing with the women’s game is that in the early AFLW days the skill errors were dreadful, there were too many stoppages and rolling mauls, and the players often weren’t fit enough to run out a whole game which often led to even worse skill errors and the game just looking slow as hell by Q4. Now the players train a lot more professionally so the skill is a lot higher, the game is much more free flowing, and a lot of really good athletes are choosing to play footy instead of having to pull a Sam Kerr and play soccer or netball or cricket in order to make a living playing a sport.
