Last, and think only , time I was there Simon Garlick and Matthew Croft played good games and Fev cracked the massive sooks because he wasn't getting the ball kicked into his breadbasket by his teammates, a very enjoyable afternoon out,

Really do not mind Ikon (Princess Park) happy memories when it was our home ground in 97 and 98 where we won a lot of games.

I'm having flashbacks of the barking Dog blast over the PA system after a Paul Hudson sausage roll.

I don’t think Dolan will be a good player in the afl.

I think he will be a f*^%ing star. He oozes something different. Exactly what we need too. Let’s hope his body holds together. If so, it’s a matter of time

I watched a lot of Hynes through Pre Season, and he was a maximum impact type of player. I know the coaches were very happy with what they saw through the pre season.

I see a lot of Midfield Jordan De Goey in him. Not sure he can be as damaging as De Goey forward ie doubt he has a 50 goal season him.

In Jacques he’d of played round 1 this year had he not been injured.

I agree, I think Hynes will be predominantly a mid that rotates / rests forward. And he is going to be a star. Classy bull.
I’m very happy we retained the pick. I think Hynes becomes just as good as those in the top end of this draft & we have gotten a year of development into him.

Was a good game to watch live. Not windy at all. Pleasant weather. Atmosphere was relaxed.

Seems we all had the same takeaway re Hynes, Dolan and Jacques. Dare I say shades of our 2014 draft (McLean-Dale-Caleb-Cordy)? Watching those three look a level above was the highlight.

As well as Walker and Sellwood who appear to be making the most of the opportunity given to them.

Was impressive watching Dolan think through that set shot and split the middle. His approach was a confident one.

Arty was also highly impressive and looked too good for the level, up until he got the eye poke. That hamstring was really shit luck, it looks like he put the pieces together over the last preseason.

Was also funny hearing Coffield direct a massive F bomb Hynes’ way after he ignored the easy handball and went the blind dump kick into our forward line after breaking a couple of tackles. The lad was just caught up in the moment of the play.

The other funny moment was when a ground ball was skidding towards Gardner, with his opponent behind him, and an open goals behind his opponent…I swear the whole crowd groaned before the ball even got to Gards (and he missed it completely lol). Luckily didn’t result in a goal.

I wonder who will get the terrible task of playing on Dixon. He doesn't seem super quick and most of his goals came from him being stronger than his opponent so we definitely need to stop him from being one out with his opponent

Looking at our results this year and only two players kicked bags against us. Every since we started our undefeated streak the best anyone manged was the occasional three goals but never more than that.

Sturt lost to the Crows in the final round. They look a class above though.
I read their form incorrectly then.

I thought their only loss was in the opening round only because the way they do things in SA is usually opposite. I.e. Because they're so backwards, I thought I was meant to be reading their form from right to left.

I know it was a bit of a ha ha with the ideal of Smith playing defense

Watching him run down the Hawks small forward on the wing was an absolute pissa
You forget he is only 19. Still has a massive upside, looks like a traditional Ruck Forward, but very agile and well skilled to go with aggression. I have seen many more out there idea's than playing Smith in Defense if we cannot land an Upgrade

Did you miss the play when he had to run into an open goal and had the pace of a Mack truck off the mark and got caught. 1st quarter, I think.
In all fairness its worth a try, yet modern day defenders need mobility and i don't see it with Smith (although I love his work rate).

I think Smith moves really well for his size. Interesting how people see things differently.

Yes getting way ahead of myself but he reminds me of a young Luke Breust - wouldn’t that be something.

Darcy Naughton Croft West Weightman and Dolan/Artie is a great forward group - goals won’t be out challenge!

Why is the Grand Final being played at Ikon Park.? It should be played at Whitten Oval. We finished on top. Why is Ikon being preferred over Whitten.

The VFL Grand Final has been played at a nuetral venue for as long as I can remember.

Grand finals are very rarely (if ever) played at the competing teams grounds, even at local level. The venue is locked in before the season.
