You have described the lazy ceo's and boards approach to the problem,
take something people are emotionally invested in and cater for the top of the tree..

I believe that the beginning of the end was the standing ANZAC day game.

You take two club who do not have any existing rivalry and create an entire day within the football landscape for it.

It is nothing but creation of an entertainment product.

For equalisation to work the league would need to be predicated on fair and not on money and it is simply not.

What's more is I solemnly believe that the product is lessor and that they could move from where we are currently to a world where money was not simply the sole focus, making a stronger product and therefore actually making more money because the league gets better.

Finally every game that you watch as a neutral is an endorsement of the status quo. If you want to change things, vote with your remote.

I have watched zero finals this year. I don't think I have watched an ANZAC day game in 15 years.

I suspect he was leaving before his name was even called out in the draft.

Why the charade though? Sleeping in a North jumper, buying the Shinboner book etc…. If he didn’t want to come to Victoria, he could have made it known and a trade for pick 1 would’ve been on the table.

Though I spose, getting picks in the next draft was better in the long run considering the players we picked up.

A complete cynic (yes, I am looking in the mirror) might suggest that by getting to North, it was then going to be easier to get to his desired destination, Port Adelaide.

If we had traded pick 1 to Adelaide, I can just imagine the shit fight in then getting to Port.

I don't buy the "wanted to leave before he got to us" theory at all.

There were a few specific moments well after he was drafted where it seems like the kid broke, and Port capitalised.

Harder to get from Adelaide to Port than us.

How are we going in the race for Callan Ward ?

Look at the end of the day we love Christian and he'll always be a part of the history of the club but yeah we had some very productive conversations with Scotty -- excuse me, with Geelong 's list management team, and I think us at Geelong -- excuse me again ha ha, the fellas -- the guys at Geelong were ahh really respectful, and ahh we are just happy to facilitate Christian getting to the mighty Catters--f***-- to Geelong, and we think that a future 3rd is probably fair value for a player of Christian's age. As for reports of us paying Christians salary for the next five years look these things happen in negotiations and we think we are in a positive place at the moment with our salary cap and Christians definitely not getting a parcel of land at Armstrong Cree----shit-- look we'll back our list management team in to pick a great player with the future third

lmfao

Key defender Jordon Butts is getting interest from North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs after losing his spot in the team this year after a lacerated lung.

Butts will be a free agent at the end of next season and the Crows have indicated to his management that they intend to extend his contract.

Wingman Lachie Sholl is another rival clubs could try to pounce on after he only played the five AFL games this year.

Don't really understand the link to Hugh Jackson. Feel like there are dozens of state league players who'd be able to match his output.

Has a neat left foot, but the fact that his body has not changed since he was drafted doesn't make sense to me as to why he would be a target.

At 182cm and not overly quick, he doesn't have much of a point of difference.

We do need some midfield depth, but I don't think he is at all of an upgrade on Phillips.
If you take into account that Rawling is in charge of List Management then it is easy to understand the link to Hugh Jackson. :stern look

His stats don't show he only played two full games in the 9 games he played this year (vGWS & vCarlton). The others he was only on the field for 1 Q, maybe 2.
Personally I love the way this lad goes about his footy and I've expressed my disappointment that Port delisted him. I've followed his career quite closely from an under-ager prior to his draft year as a North Adelaide supporter.
I don't think Port got the best out of him and I'm hopeful there's more to come. Lad hasn't had a pre-season without coming back from a surgery yet either - this year could have been his year at Port.
If there are concerns about his committment, due to the size of his body - look around ... it's the same story for most of the young lads at Port. Whilst Jackson should/could do it himself - there obviously hasn't been much encouragement from the fitness bosses or the leadership group at Port (I hear Rozee & Butters don't like to do extras in the gym either, so not setting the best example for the young lads). From what I hear takes place at the neighbouring Adelaide Crows on this front - Port does absolutely nothing!
Watch the first half of Port v Carlton R16 on 7Plus, if you want to see how he can go about it.
Anyhow, I hear he's already started his pre-season and I hope he lands somewhere and shows Port what for!
Up the ROOSters!!

Funnily enough it was a roosters player who was team mates with JHF at south’s who passed on to my mate that he wanted out ASAP. Was the weekend that he came home for Mother’s Day.

Like big pun said, “I gave you fair warning, beware”

Hahaha. I was just thinking the other day that Sholl is the exact sort of player we'd go after. Seeing him mentioned specifically at all concerns me.

Leave him alone, North
