Differently feels like the media are gunning a bit for us..

CScott has to apolgise for making a female cry … I have not heard any information that confirmed/ displayed that what he say was overly bad ..but he said it in a disrespectful manner apparently ..and as he made her cry ..he must have said something bad ..so. sorry.

I think this is a little strange that someone in that environment , either sex , is that fragile that gruff coach could make them cry but there you go...

BSmith ..Be nice to see him work out a smarter way of acting sometimes … if he had a problem with a photographer …wouldn't their be a club media rep that he could talk too…. he does seem to have a propensity of amping up the negative ..

but he was criticised for swearing at the media person …. Now this is after thru the year we have a coach let fly in a press conference telling his players to grow the fruit tingle up. , and just recently we had Collingwood star and coach let go on TV with the same fruit tingle action…. after a win. Now I rarely swear..think one can find a better way to express one self but TV shows and movies are full of it and then we have the others example of it in the afl that have hardly been mentioned at all. yet BSmith cops …then cops for only txt an apology that he probably feels like he should not have to give.

Again..love to see an exact report of what he said..if its that bad ..let the facts of the situation stand for themselves

and so for an incident that probably last 5 minute they have kept it going for for close to a week. CW on agset says we are chipping away at our standards … etc.. and Scott is unhappy with the afl media over something ..what? She didnt say why .. ..but throws more mud

Its like they cant wait for the hawks to win and then they will go to town

Definitely a tall poppy syndrome. The media and footy world are sick of us.

Re: Scott..... Art Vandelay_ just posted in the Scott thread that apparently the staff member he had a go at was accompanying a vision impaired reporter.

Not sure which lady cried, but whatever he said obviously upset them.

That was reported today in the addy. etc…. but again…. Is being a female or being V.I relevant.? Did he mention it in what he said? If he acted inappropriately then fine him but.

The afl has agreed that an apology is appropriate level of repsonse.. It must have been absolutely shocking what he said if an apology is enough after he made a woman cry who was accompanying a vision impaired reporter.

Well they will be disappointed then. If their objective is to disrupt our preparation with a view to diminishing our performance, they will be very disappointed.

We're too professional and driven to let this impact any onfield performance. We will be ready to go, and if the unthinkable happens, as much as CW and co will sit back and think they have contributed to it, it won't have had any impact on the outcome.

I don't get the Addy and have no knowledge of what he allegedly said.

It happened, he apologised, the apology was accepted and the dust settled.

But then just a few days later Smith had his run in with another reporter.

Both incidents involved a high profile Geelong identity and a female.

Right or wrong the media has wanted to make as much noise as they can about it just because they can, and they want to tear us down.

I see it backfiring if the purpose is to tear us down. I think if anything it will galvanize. Definitely feels like storm in a teacup territory though

The media just a rabid pack feeding off each other- notice no one asked what her motive was in photographing Bailey getting treatment. She was after an injury scoop. Rubbed him the wrong way, paid the price, and he looked childish. Red flag to a bull. Fell all over his mental health admission, but failed to give him any added empathy about privacy, like all media hounds.

I suggest victimsation, perceived or otherwise, fuels him, and he'll run amok like last we played them.
The downside to that is, the difficulty learning boundaries when you don't feel at fault.

If the frenzy galvanizes us, it has backfired. Worrying signs for the media.

From a long way off, with no basis in fact or knowledge of the man himself, I have the impression that it won't bother Scott at all. He's put it behind him and moved on.

On the other hand I can see Smith somehow using it as a 'fuel' for his motivation on the night. No idea why because it again has no basis in fact or knowledge.

Just an impression.

In all honesty. We should beat them by 6-8 goals
Love your confidence, but very little basis for that margin, that result.
They have won 2 interstate finals, and play at their HG, have oodles of confidence, speed and fitness, and thrive on being underdogs.
We have played 1 one game in 4 weeks by the time we meet Hawks, albeit a brilliant 1 game.
This’ll be very nail-biting, like most Hawks Cats games

As I said on the main thread, it will be funny to watch the "Proxy War" between opposition supporters coming into this game.

Obviously every Richmond and Bulldogs fan will be desperately hoping for a Geelong loss, whereas Essendon will no doubt be cheering hard for a Hawthorn capitulation.

Who else will be involved? Maybe Pies/Lions would cheer for Hawks as an 'easier' GF opponent than us?
Hawks beat Pies by near 11 goals rd 22. Not so easy.

There should actually be legislation passed that you reach the age of 16 and can no longer wear a wizard hat to a Hawks game. I was there Easter Monday and the sight of grown men in their 50's wearing wizard hats was actually all kinds of screwed up. It remains one of the saddest things I've seen in my time as a footy fan.
Too true. However I can think of a few other player nicknames that would be even less appropriate for grown men to come dressed as to the footy.
