Could you spare us the sanctimonious holier than thou ‘I give a shit about humanity’ bullshit for more than 3 consecutive seconds, please.

Your club has had a break and enter specialist, a man who had an affair with a staff member coaching it while in camp, a man who belted a member of the general public who if I remember rightly you yourself wanted to make every excuse under the sun for, you had a 2017 flag winner take a pic of a topless girl with a premiership medal and then share it without her consent.

Oh but all that’s fine - because they happened to Richmond.

You’re a disgrace mate.

At some point you will graduate from day care and realise that human beings at all workplaces, sporting clubs and institutions f**k up. And you f**k up as well and don’t have the right to play this ivory tower card every day of your life as though you’re perfect. All you do when you start posting this stuff is make yourself look stupid. That’s it. That’s literally all you achieve.
You couldn't work this out after looking at his profile? Clearly never read a book in his life.

Weddle is going to be massive for the hawks
Has height and pace to go with Dempsey, who hates hearing footsteps.
Shutting down Dempsey transition or sneaking in the forward pocket behind the pack will hurt immensely.
Weddle also has the strength to rag doll him all night.
Huge win for the hawks on the wing
Huge win having Dempsey from Temu. :thumbsu:

What option did they have? The Dogs had no contract with Smith. It was what they got, or nothing.
They should have told him that he's not going to Geelong and that he either stays or goes to a lowly side.
They got eff all for him anyway. Should have threatened to put him in the draft.

They lost by 2 goals to Geelong in round 11 and Smith was one of the best on ground so you are wrong.

Kennedy had 25 possessions and 3 goals.

Smith had 33 possessions, 7 clangers, and 1 goal assist.

Think you’ll find it was the 11 goals Neale and Cameron kicked that were the real difference makers in that game.

We really have screwed with your brain haven’t we.

It's about the whole year and future years , not just that one game bro.

Almost no team has done that and for very good reason.

1) Decent chance he gets to Geelong anyway.
2) Kennedy and p20 (after bids) is not nearly as good as Bailey Smith, but saying no is cutting your own nose off.

Eff all?

They got a player who contributes 1.7 goals a game and gets 23 touches, 9 of them contested.
They got another kid out of it (Cooper Hynes) that they got 8 games into this year. Could be shit, could be good. Who knows. I’d say all things considered they did ok out of it. Before this year Smith had never played a season that matched Kennedy’s and even now, he still hasn’t played one that matches Kennedy’s 2025 for scoreboard impact.

Sometimes you need to make a stand when you get a disrepectful offer and Geelong may have upped the offer if he was going to the draft.

Smith is 24 and Kennedy is 28. Smith is one of the Brownlow favourites.
He is worth a top 5 pick and a top 10 pick at the very least.

But you just said that they missed the finals because of the game they lost to us and Smith’s performance in it.

Make up your mind. Bro.
We will never know but I say the Bulldogs would have won that game. If Smith wasn't playing it would have been a depth player playing for Geelong.

Smith IS one of the Brownlow favourites. He wasn’t then, and Kennedy has been a good player. What did we get for Ablett. Suck it up.

If you put half as much effort into actual charity as you do into going into bat for AFL clubs that have traded with Geelong there’d be no poverty left on the planet.

Geelong ripped off the Bulldogs and made a mockery of equilisation. You can't allow clubs to continue to do that. It's bad for football.

You know what’s bad for football? Half a dozen teams starting each season with no intent to compete or attempt to win the competition.

The NRL has no draft at all. National, rookie, mid season. No free agency. No trade period. No academy picks. Nothing. Just a salary cap. And even allowing for the Panthers winning four comps in a row - which they’ve done despite losing half the team they started with in 2021 and they’re still alive in the hunt for a fifth - more teams have won NRL comps this century than AFL ones. Why? Because in any given season every team is trying to win and give themselves a shot at it. That’s the number one reason right there. Followed by no need to hedge bets about whether to stay up/pick up talent in a draft, or shit the bed and bottom out or whatever.

But you would rather just blame the teams that try and buck the trend and keep on winning and beat the system, rather than blaming either a) the system itself or b) the teams that aren’t good enough to compete.

The bulldogs shouldn’t have a problem with anything. They got gifted a number one draft pick who through his own idiocy and maybe some poor management has gone off the rails. They got Darcy as a father son - yes they had to bid on him but it didn’t ultimately cost them an arm and a leg. He joined a stack of other father-sons there too.

They’ve tied up a huge amount of money in Aaron Naughton who had barely delivered on his pay cheque prior to this season.

They have arguably the best player in the game on their list. Any team in the comp would kill to have Bontempelli to build a team around. And they’ve so far squandered it. And you’re wetting yourself because they’ve lost Smith and gained a 28 year old who gets 23 touches a game, and either kicks or creates nearly 2 goals a game?

Free agency and trading is designed to provide a fair competition
Free agency is supposed to aid lower clubs because they have more room in the salary cap.

Why is this thread about Geelong now?
Haven't read the last few pages but I'm assume Phatboy and Aristotle are trying to court each other again.
