I said this stadium would never get built the day they announced it would cost $750m which was about a billion lower than what the final cost will be.

The CFMEU will never let that stadium be built without their involvement. That will obviously increase the cost. I’ve never had a problem with the union fighting for good wages and conditions for their workers. But it’s the non workers in that sector that blow the costs up, the ‘spotters’ and ‘safety’ reps and ‘Peggy’s’ etc. As well as all the extortion payments made by the threatened sub contractors that contribute to the overall costs. A 30,000 seat stadium shouldn’t be any near the new prices quoted.

Yes they are already saying $1.13b after the initial cost in 2022 was shown as $710m. That's a 60% increase in 3 years. They haven't even broken the soil yet.

Everton completed a new stadium in England this year, 52-53,000 capacity (that can be increased later on a bit) and its cost is estimated to be about $1.6b. Plus that was build on the waterfront of a heritage site, so a lot of additional cost to mitigate flood risks etc

$710mil was probably still dreaming for a stadium about half the size & half the facilities. Plus it’s Tassie, so there will be a hell of a lot of transport costs to get things there.

Bin it, we don’t need any more teams anyway.
