Dev is an instant upgrade on the cloggers we’ve already delisted, and Hall for that matter who played regular footy this year. I don’t love him but it’s also a bit of a no brainer. He’s handy as a stop gap whilst we get up and going again. List builds take time.
Also, Hall is 20 with only one decent stretch of games behind him. It’s not like he’s stagnating or anything. Far too early to tell.

All the folks simping for Dev...

Have you actually looked at his record? He's basically an older version Clay Hall. Honestly, who do you think he pushes out of the team?

He doesn't need to "push anyone out of the team". Who has suggested this?

He comes in as potentially our 23-26th player and likely starts in the WAFL. He'll probably dominate for the Beagles and get a chance in the AFL team down the track.

There's no real urgency to play him in our team immediately ahead of others. Nobody expects him to jump in with 30D and be an A grader in the AFL, just play his role.

Our midfield was the worst in the AFL by an absolute country mile in 2025. There's potential for that to be the case again in 2026. Dev hopefully helps in that space, either himself or by bringing out the best in Gross, Davis, Hall, Sharp etc in the WAFL.

Yeo is one injury away from retirement, Kelly is one pea heart away from being dropped again, Hall is a limited player, Hewett doesn't have the stamina.

Definitely very early. Had some good and some bad but definitely a limited player. I don’t like his speed of mental processing, it puts him under pressure

There’s others I’d prefer to get in before Robertson but the reality is, other than perhaps Starcevich, we seem to be struggling to turn anyone’s head to face west

So he’s someone who would be prepared to come here, would cost little, if any, trade capital and adds more over the next 2-3 years than someone picked up in the depths of a shallow draft

We’d all like Davies or Neale or Flanders or Steele but in all likelihood none of them are coming

Take what’s an offer on a short term deal (max 2 years) and add some depth to the bottom end of our best 22 or at worst someone who can help our young mids at the Beagles

The bloke from Tigercast seems to think we’ve put a great offer to Tylar Young and Rich fans think he’s gone based on Yze’s words about him today.
Don’t know a lot about him but he killed us in round 19 or whatever it was and is a position of need.
Big fan of Tylar Young.
Would be a wonderful value KPD addition.

Good point.

Or if you’ve already got a plethora of picks in the current draft and want to start stocking up for the next draft.

Or if you’ve got an academy/FS prospect you want to stock points for.

The suggestion that a club should almost never trade a player for future picks is extremely short sighted.
Gold Coast this year is a prime example of wanting a future pick for flanders .

They have 3 first round picks already and 3 first round academy players .

We would have got about the same picks for barrass this year in this weak draft but we would have had barrass playing full back all year .

Surely our offer to Starcevich isn't 900k a season?

Probably is. Sure, we got Baker, Graham and whatever Owies is on, but in the last two years we've lost Gaff, Darling, Barrass, Sheed, McGovern, Hunt, Kelly on a lower wage AND Liam Ryan and Oscar Allen out the door.

We'd have to be millions under the cap with a rule that you must spend 95% of the cap...we have to give that money to someone..if they're smart they'll front end a bunch of blokes and have those contracts drop off when it's time to go after Warner again.

I think he's a good player and our list is shot which will mean overpaying average to good players.

Just worried it'll mean circling the drain for a lot longer than we want unless our list management team can get creative with front loading, which they likely have the freedom to (so hopefully my concerns are largely irrelevant).

Just kept my pants piss free.

There's little things but nothing huge right now, I like to wait until the combine to see where we sit with our picks.

Said recently we are not trading pick one and pick two would be one we could once we are given it. The club really wants 3 picks in the top 10.
only little things...damn here I was thinking all of petracca, Merrett, Neale and curnow were coming.

ah well, Dev it is.

He seems to want to play more midfield but as a 27 year old(next season) whats the chances he can even transition to midfielder? As a defender he’s purely been lockdown. Houghy very similar but at least was able to find the pill while playing a similar role.

Paying 900k for 4 years for a bloke with concussion issues is peak West coast. I can’t even get infuriated anymore cause the last few years have desensitised me
in a scenario where a player medically retires the salary would be

1st year - 90% outside cap
2nd year - 75% outside cap
3rd year - 50% outside cap

So it really isn’t the risk you’re insinuating it is.

Eagles giving a good pick to lions for a player lions have no right receiving anything for, would be peak eagles tho.
