Looking forward to Starcevich’s 8-12 touches a game :fire:

Will be absolutely tasty along with

Hough's 15 touches a game
Graham's 19 touches a game
Hewetts 16 touches a game
Kelly's 17 touches a game
Harley's 18 touches a game

Has there ever been a midfield that's never had a midfielder average 20 disposals in a season before?

And completely blanking the oppos best small/mid fwd

How's it a bad thing to have him and Hough both as lockdown/mid options?

Please remember where you are when you post such things x

We don’t need any established players, particularly those from successful clubs. Our list is just fine, as we hear constantly throughout the season with the lavish praise bestowed by all every week.

Ive been pretty much of the assumption that whatever compo pick the AFL gives us will almost certainly be used for the Starcevich trade (with maybe Dev thown in)

Seems pretty straightforward imo
Why ?

Brisbane not only get 2 x free agents but get a great pick for their free agent when they should get nothing .

Future 3rd is way better they what they deserve and they can throw in tunstill aswell .

How are clubs and the media not winging about the Lions.
Premiers last year, prelim at least this year.
Now they get the top 2 free agents, a top 5 draft pick and a priority pick handed out by the AFL.
You would think the other clubs would be pissed if the AFL gave us a priority pick, just to turn around and give it to the Lions for a RFA.

Nah let’s complain about the bottom team being given assistance instead.

It's ok - the new man running all important footy decisions at the AFL will definitely work to curb the obvious advantages landing in Brisbane's lap.

Over to you checks notes...Greg Swann.

He is a quality we need to shore up our defence. Money isn't an issue. If we have to trade something so to not dilute pick 2 OA compo so be it. The AFL giving us four extra rookies spots and being able to prelist players ensures Evans walley etc don't cost us any draft capital, freeing up those picks to use for exactly this type of thing
This is the attitude matt Clarke takes .

Afl gave us a pick so we may as well on trade that to Brisbane because it's easy .

No we shoukd package up that compo pick with others and get GCs best 1st round pick and trade a later more appropriate pick for starcivich.

If we got an end of first rounder that has to be traded for a player we should be trading for bobby Hill.

Collingwood would bite our hand off . Hill just signed a long term contract and then sat out the year for personal reasons .

They would want to back out of that long term deal quick smart .

Oh and happy to pay for Starcevich if it means adding a quality player to the list.

He will crack in and makes us better - definitely down back, and potentially in the middle.

Now go get Jack Steele on board too.

If the afl were smart they would not give us an end of 1st round pick they would give us a 2nd round pick after our 2nd and a future 2nd after our 2nd .

It is basically the same pick this year except the afl can claim they are preserving the 1st round of the draft

Collingwood are a funny one here - they may look to shed Hill but I doubt they fire-sale him yet. With that in mind they would likely make it mildly painful for all involved.

I would also have questions over his long term viability - both physically and mentally - flashes of brilliance for sure but he's also not overly consistent and has already bailed on GWS (twice, if you count that he tried to get to Essendon too).
Is Bobby Hill playing AFL footy into his 30s?...I have my doubts.

Still, he would be a replacement for Liam Ryan - both on and off the field really....

If WA is his only option then I think Freo will come for him too - their small forward brigade are at a bit of a tipping point -

Switkowkski (Free Agent next year I believe?)
Freddie (just re-signed but will be more focused on the downhill skiing at Milan 2026.)
Bolton (most effective up the ground)
Reid (surely midfield bound)
Dudley (tiny and soft)
