Cerra remembering how to kick a football would be nice too but he's more of a contested ball player these days.

Some elite half forwards who could consistently produce the lasers we saw from Frank the Tank late in the season would make a world of difference to the team.

I don’t understand the criticism of Cerra’s kicking. He’d be one of the few players in our team who consistently hits targets and makes good decisions. He’s a decent kick off both feet.

Stays and remains a lazy footballer? Not sure he has got into sprint mode very often throughout his time at Carlton.

So he still kicks 40 a year contributes to another 30 or so…more than Flanders, or whichever VFL player Sydney or geelong offer up will do.

We are not talking a middling player, he has real value which is why talented youngsters are being mentioned to come the other way.

Carlton need to stand firm with The Clubs and his management who have turned his head and let them know the hard part of this transaction is getting us to say yes to moving on a player we want to stay.

I think a big part of the problem is guns, advised by their managers, signed long term contracts 3 or 4 years ago knowing the increased money would come into the game, but didn't realise that it was all going to go to the gun players. So they signed deals with percentage increases say 10% per year not realising a player like TDK could get $1.8M for 8 years (which might be underpaid after the next deal kicks in in 5plus years). The whole landscape changed after SOS went around spending like a drunken sailor on his first night of shore leave in 6 months. Factor in front ended contracts and it seems even worse.

He is, but this year his kicking fell off considerably compared to his usual standards. A lot of kicks inside 50 that he used to hit lace out were going over the head or falling short of targets.

There is an easy way to fix this issue.

Give the clubs the ability to trade players IN CONTRACT after the first 18 months of the contract start date.

Both those years were due to injuries that weren't football related.

A couple of his early injuries were caused playing non-competitive basketball in 2019, and then later he fractured his right patella when he slipped on a staircase at home.

It is funny, Geelong make a prelim every other year with a dozen 30+ year olds in their best side, have recruited their fair share of “dickheads” along the way too, but our supporters will turn up their nose up at a 33 year old Steven May for chips.

Still playing good footy. An upgrade on JSOS. You get 2-3 years out of him to protect and teach O’Farrell and Dean and if there is any hope of an instant bounce back to finals he can be a big part in it.
