Like, disgracefully unprofessional. And when asked by the media "Have you got a Premiership tip?", his response:

"Nope. Hope they all lose."

How can anybody look up to this ****head?

Tactically and strategically, he's got a lot of nous.

But saying shit like this? Complete w***er.

In regards to the concussion discussion - the AFL policy is a mandatory 12 day break between matches for AFL & AFLW listed players. For state league players, local league players etc, it's a mandatory 21 day break which is actually in line with the Australian Institute of Sport’s Concussion and Brain Health Position Statement regarding return to play protocols post-concussion

Earlier this year when Miers was concussed against Hawthorn, there was some questions if he'd only be "forced" to miss the 1 match or if it would be 2 matches depending on when the 12 days started. As part of that discussion, Jon Ralph mentioned that the average days missed after a concussion is now 20 days - so while the AFL won't mandate a 21 day break which is the recommendation from studies, teams are already kinda doing that themselves anyway

So, if the average days missed is 20 (and not just the mandatory 12) - would moving the bye to be between the prelim finals & the grand final actually change much in terms of a concussed players availability, or would they likely still miss?

I believe that makes her a keeper!
Indeed.

I instructed her to hold off on prepping that eagerly awaited sammich until after the match because I wasn't hungry enough to warrant risking a Hawks goal.

She waited in the kitchen until the commencement of the game. I commended her for such an exemplary display of dilligence and reassured her that it tasted all the better for it.

Potentially unpopular opinion - I'm also really happy for Bailey Smith. I think the media are protecting their own in relation to him. Even in the final minutes Ben Casanelia (who called him a "dickhead" on X whilst simultaneously mouthing off about how professional should use professional language) was describing his goal in terms which lingered on how unfortunate it was that Geelong fans couldn't truly celebrate the goal with him.

So happy for this mob. Each iteration of the side is a bit different.
I was initially frustrated with Bailey for his response, however, on seeing one of the photos he took offence to, I actually found her 'doing her job' in this space repulsive. I work in a space where media are often invited into an environment to take photos, the reality is, it is my workplace first and foremost, the company gives permission to the photographer but that doesn't mean they can photograph everything. If I was taken in a state of undress, I would immediately ask wtf was going on. Now, personally, I would consult a company manager and not approach the photographer, which is the issue with Bailey, he's a hothead, and does stupid things, but its not a hanging offence and he was well within his right to feel aggrieved. The reporting of this in black and white terms and the use of flowery language like 'abuse' and making it misogynistic was fundamentally wrong, unaccountable and media driven. I was disappointed in the commentary by Kingy and Benny and I think they should've had more of a nuanced view of this, rather than jumping on the hysteria train.

Like we didn't like the Adelaide Crows's lawfare to whittle down the homophobic slur ruling, it would be short-sighted for the GFC to challenge the concussion protocol.

There will be many such talented players and many such premiership opportunities for us in the future. We can't compromise our 166 year old institution's integrity & reputation over what is a silent and deadly killer.

Did Stewy actually fail the concussion test? He was obviously concussed from the footage. That is the only loophole who will have.

Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer.
I was actually hoping that when he went off we were subbing him off because of how he was holding his wrist. Hopium? Yes. But it sounds like he failed the concussion test.

When there is a media vs someone story I never take any heed in what the media have to say about it. Obviously.

Patrick Dangerfield is a generational player and somehow still underrated. He is every bit the class of Buddy, Dusty, Fyfe and dare I say it, our lord and saviour Jr. It's so affirming to see him do what he does, even at 36. I hope he can get the Norm Smith next week, I don't think he will care and it will not define him, but he deserves the recognition. That game tonight was something else.

For all their bleating about Steve Hocking, the fact remains they spent years in the wilderness before he was appointed as GM of Football Operations, won 3 flags when he was at AFL House, and haven't been close to winning one since. They should be on their hands and knees begging for him to go back, but I guess they're not intelligent enough to realize that.
It's like reverse-Stockholm Syndrome! Rather than love their oppressor (Stockholm Syndrome), they are hating their benefactor!

If that isn't the Captain telling you what intent looks like I don't know what is.

Every player now knows what they have to bring next week.

Sam Mitchell when asked about changing the bye to before the Grand Final, asked specifically about Tom Stewart. His response:

"I don't give a shit. Sorry."

Seriously what a completely classless dickhead. I'd hate to be coached by this tosser. Really hope he never even gets to play his team in a grand final, let alone win one.

Listening to his press conference, there was more to the question than being specifically about Stewart; the full question asked was,

"Sam, what are you thoughts on the end of season bye? Obviously Tom Stewart now will be out of the grand final next week. There's obviously a lot of talk of moving the bye from the end of round 24 to before the main game" - with Mitchell interrupting before the question is finished

Mitchell's response - "You can ask me another day, I don't care right now sorry."... incoherent mumbling... "My mental capacities of dealing with what I'm dealing with right now, I don't give a shit. Sorry"

---

Listening to the full question and then the full answer, I don't connect Mitchell's response to be directly related to Stewart & his concussion, but rather it's actually about the timing of the bye and being asked just after they're lost the prelim. Let's be honest here, Hawthorn's season is done for 2025, so I highly doubt Mitchell is concerned about the timing of the bye right at this moment, but in was months time when focus has turned to 2026 is when he'll give more thought to it

I actually like that response, at least he's being honest about how he feels

And if we're all being honest - when you're team has just lost a prelim, why would you be concerning yourself with a premiership prediction 🤷‍♀️

Just got home from that unbelievable showing. So glad to see it live. That third quarter was heavenly. Kudos to the awesome Hawks supporters I was around - all handled the loss with grace. I had some SHOCKING Cats supporters around who had to be warned multiple times by security. Just go to the footy and have fun, idiots!

Smith and Danger were awesome. Watching Smith cover the ground live is something else. Reminded me of when I'd go watch St. Kilda just to see Reiwoldt work everyone else into the dirt. Holmes huge. Tyson: mwah.

Flag is ours to lose. We're better and fitter than either mob we get next week. Doesn't mean we can't lose but we are in the front row seat. Stewy missing out, if we win, is horrid.

Here's what Chris Scott or any other professional coach would've said when asked that question:

"Yeah I understand it's a difficult one for the league. I know that we have to put players and their well-being first, and I respect that. I'm also mostly thinking about my team and our fans right now, and it's probably not my place to take an opinion on it. I'm sure if we were the ones being directly affected, we'd have a position on it, but right now we don't really have that anywhere near the top of our priority list."

So yeah - he was asked specifically about the issue, with reference to Tom Stewart, and the words "I don't give a shit" didn't have to come out of his mouth. He's a flog. Incapable of being professional when he's emotional. Maybe the extra context takes some of the mayo off, but not much in my opinion.

He was also asked if he had a tip for the Premiership. Again, if Scott or any other coach was asked that, you'd get something like this:

"Gee, at a moment's notice it's hard to say. The three teams remaining are all fantastic sides and any one of them would deserve a flag. But I'm not much of a tipster, so I'll just let the cards fall where they may, just focusing on our team and our fans right now."

What he said:

"I hope they all lose."

He's a one-eyed tosser.

Only the Western Bulldogs Ed Richards (35) has more goal assists in 2025 than Brad Close's 30.

This one had symbolism laid on for me - we were about to do a tour of the Coliseum at 1/4 time being 21 odd down.
Emerged a while later after viewing what the Gladiator encountered in the bowels of the arena and hey presto - the Cats had tuned it around and were 20 odd up👌🏽
Flying back GF day and landing pretty much at the final siren- hope it's another omen!
Go Cats

He said that because he was asked a question about a bye before grand final. Why would he care? His mind was elsewhere understandably..
