Thanks i missed that. Was stanley confirmed too? I imagine we wont know for a few weeks whether we are getting marshall or not.

I think the manager have a fair chunk of blame. They push to get the long contracts and tell the players tehy will be able to get a trade done if tehy want out. It seems its not as easy as that.
So lets see this year who Merrit , Petrricca , Currnow get to new destinations.
If Hawks miss n merrit do they move to Petrricca

He could have let himself be OOC in 2023 and then come here as an out of contract player. He had his chance and we were very keen to get him here.
Its almost becoming an arms race. If they get Merrit , it ups their weaponry

I get the feeling that the Cats' priority is Marshall over Curnow. But Jesus, imagine if they did manage to get those two, plus Worpel, without having to give up too much, apart from picks. That would be the shizz nizz.
Curnow will not be at Geelong. Not a snowflakes chance in hell.

Im not sure marshall comes (stk might not release him) but if he does he will be the starting ruck and Stanley will be a backup in the 2s on cheap wages. His body is pretty old so he will be managed and given Conway is unlikely to be out there we could use the backup.

Not necessarily, as signing Marshall doesn't stop us from needing a reliable back-up ruck option
This year we would have been hoping Conway's body was going to not only hold up, but potentially allow him to take over as our leading ruck option
As much as the club said the right things about Conway a couple of weeks back, privately they may have a level of reservation regarding his availability for next year. And while we can use both Blicavs & SDK in the ruck, I'm not sure the club would be planning on them being the next in line options
Edwards is developing nicely, but needs a summer or two in the gym to fill out so he has the body to compete in the ruck at senior level
So even if we're successful in bringing in Marshall, retaining Stanley's services for another season would allow him to be the back-up, emergency option
It is also a good negotiating point. If Stanley had retired or we hadn’t yet offered a contract, we would be seen as desperate for Marshall. Now we have an inform Stanley for next season no matter what. Great to be able to rest Marshall when necessary, let alone if he gets injured.

The worrying part is Stanley is 35 in Dec , and Blitz is 35 in March 26 ….
and Danger will be 36 in april
We are sort of pushing the envelope a bit if we don't get Marshall. Would it be fair to say that Edwards might be a real chance R2027?
Break glass option. Costs hardly anything and they aren’t confident in Conway at all
