Seriously, the Collingwood mates aren’t answering my texts.
I just wished them all good luck for next year with Dads army a year or two or three older……I thought it was a nice thought. 🤣

Always nice to respect the elderly ;)

Pies look to be in for a world of hurt. Put all of the eggs in the "all or nothing" basket and came up with the nothing option. Paid heaps for Perryman and Houston who were both terrible tonight. You could easy retire Mihocek, Pendlebury, Crisp, Sidebottom, Membrey, Cox etc if you had some worthy replacements. They don't. Pain awaits.
Largely true, but their ball movement and positioning is of a high level. Without the individual talent and nous, there will be a drop, but in the “modern game” structure and system takes a team a long way. Joe Richards leaving for Port was a bugger loss than they and watchers realise. He is the ultimate worker structurally. They have some decent youngsters coming, no stars though. Perryman and Houston, like Schulz will be better after a year in their system and likely become prime movers in coming years. Replacing Pendles, Sidebum and Crisp is going to be their issue. Mihocek is nearly cooked and it seems they may lose Elliott. Howe so very important and just hanging on.

They won’t fall off the map, but there is a decline coming.

Who would have thought that a team of pensioners would struggle to get through the season. Only likely to have a worse run next year.

Houston has been a bad pick up as the Pies play through the Daicos bros and hasn’t Nobles pace off hb.

Hill going AWOL is a big hole from their premiership side.

Fly plans to improve the list with the worst draft hand this year and little promising youth. Not linked to any FAs. Maybe they should go hard at OA. Brissy don’t really need him. Most of the trade talk is on contracted players they have no hope of landing

Noble was found wanting last week.

Charlie West could be a player.
Bobby a massive loss. Pendles more so Q1.

FF in Jack Buller. Maybe May in the backline.
They’re always a chance of bringing in players unfort., there’ll be others.

Hopefully they get burnt with the Houston & Perryman acquisitions.

disagree with this. nothing wrong with showing love for your kids and being proud. **** what anyone else thinks.
Always thought sos was a tosser for being too "manly and proud" to even smile when jack did something. What a horrific way to be a parent......
na Peter Daicos carries on like an absolute knob and makes it all happen him. After a Carlton v Collingwood game he's on roaming Brian blind drunk complaining about umpires. Campaigner.

I think they're going to struggle on a few fronts.

Mihocek's decline is a bigger issue than they realise to date, because the replacement in McStay has averaged just under 15 games a season; you simply cannot rely on a player who misses a quarter of the season if you include finals (and you should, because for the majority of his career he has been at a club that played finals). Outside of him, you have a 34 year old and slowing down Mason Cox, who wasn't all that and a bag of chips to begin with.

If McStay isn't playing, Mihocek retires or is traded, and Cox is rubbish, who's kicking their goals in the absence of Elliott?

Cox bringing the ball to ground is a perfectly reasonable strategy against bottom 4 sides, but top 4 sides will gift him 5 goals a week from blocking frees to shut down their front six. And that's relying on the smalls always being on.

Defensively, the inclusion of Jack to supplement Howe and Moore should make them pretty solid, but Howe has been injury prone at Collingwood and is 35. Retiring? Quaynor is also quietly a gun and can play taller, so could/should slot into that third interceptor role. Crisp, De Goey and the two Daicos brothers is a reasonable midfield to build around, but it's thin; Ned Long is a structural piece, someone they can pivot your Sidebottoms and Pendleburys around so that they aren't stuffed come the fourth term, but outside of that he's poor.

Their only line that I can see being equally strong over the next 5 seasons is the backline. Outside of that, there's going to be a huge dropoff in talent akin to the one Port has gone through over the last few years. They won't crash and burn, but they're going to find it decisively harder to score over the next few seasons.

And throwing Jack ahead of the ball won't work.

Which Jack are you referring to G?
