I loved Doc, JSOS and TDK, but I’m glad the club is moving on from them now.
Old Carlton would’ve let the tail wag the dog, given a cooked Doc another year and caved to the crazy contract demands of Jack and Tom.
Doc openly advocated for Jack to be.selfish and look after himself in contract demands. Not something a good leader should be doing.
Jack then preceded to openly shop himself around as a result.
Tom also followed this advice and followed the money.
Charlie a product of this culture too now and cracking the sads and being selfish.
No more entitled egomaniacs.

If we were targeting a player from the Filth I'd have a crack at young Wil Parker. I've been impressed with his ball use and footy iq. Out of contract, wouldn't cost much, plenty of upside as he missed time while playing cricket.

A certain GC player originally from Moe was spotted down Moe FNC watching the clubs netball premiership win. A lovely young lady he was with throughout the night has blabbed next morning that he is planning on approaching GC requesting a trade to Carlton with Curnows management for a move back home to Victoria for family reasons.

Re players wanting to go 'all in'

Was it a bit oblivious to the list build and salary cap? Yes

Was it an overreaction to losing a bunch of perpetually injured players? Yes

Was it a little selfish? Yes

Was it really disappointing that some players seemingly threw in the towel? Yes

Did we need to take a couple of steps backwards in order to reset the list for the future? Yes

BUT despite all of that, is it understandable that players might be disappointed that after years of being useless and finally making it to the edge of finals that the club seemingly decided we weren't really good enough? Absolutely yes

Out of contract for them.

Ash Johnson, is a player I rate who has had a terrible run with injury. Would be a good option as third tall forward who can provide backup for our key forwards.

Curnow, McKay are our only key forwards now. We have a couple of medium ones in Kemp and Moir but he provides something deffernt to them. Could be a cheap get in an area of need for us. Kind of killed us this year with McKay and Curnow being unavailable or out of form/playing injured for a lot of the season, Lemmy unable to make the level and having no one else.

Mihocek would play the same role but would cost more and be harder to get out of there so probably not. Cox, much the same. Would only have a need for them if Curnow is moved on. I don't think he will be, but if he is, that means we need to bring in 2 AFL capable key forwards and this would bring guys like these into the discussion.

Elliott you won't get.

Tom Mitchell, probably not quite the right type of midfielder or age for us but will be interesting to see what they do with him. If he can get fit, he's a brownlow medalist, probably an upgrade on someone like Cerra, a move like this could see us push Cerra to a wing which I am all for. He's 32 so not sure if his career is about done or he just had a poor year. I think they will be trying to sign him to a short contract and he will look elsewhere for a longer one. I'd be hesitant and we should have plenty of other targets before coming to this point so he is probably a no but only after considering a few key points. If he comes cheap and on a short contract, if he ends up on the scrapheap then we should think about it, if his body is fine.
Ash Johnson is nowhere near it at AFL level, or trying to get/remain there..
Application found wanting.

Moe Flanders..?

You sure this wasn’t just to get a lil’ bit of action.

Sh*t you're playing it safe there, Humphries is from Moe originally but also Flanders played junior footy for Moe.

Can any eagle eyed fans spot him in the crowd?

Humphrey would ofc be the ideal situation but just struggle to see the Suns and especially Hardwick letting go someone with the potential to be Dusty-like
I see your point, but I think both GC and Hardwick will be under huge internal and external pressure to deliver a flag… or at the very least, make a deeper run into finals.

They know that while developing and keeping players with potential is important, the focus has to be on winning now, which is exactly why they brought in Dimma.

It’s one thing not to want to trade out your local home grown academy talent .. but they (with thanks to Charlie’s management and the recent links to Geelong/Collingwood) would realise there needs to be pieces on the table to make certain deals happen, and I think Bailey fits the bill (being a Victorian who grew up idolising Patrick Cripps).

On top of that, landing a marquee player like Curnow would boost local interest and strengthen their profile in the competition.

I truly hope you are right. Humphrey is about as ideal a player type we could add to the team.
