My only consideration with Worpel is we don't rate blokes on how the other club is using them, but how we would want to use them ourselves. Bailey Smith a prime example.
If the Cats are genuine in chasing him, and it isn't simply a case of he's open to a trade so why not, then I trust them completely to know exactly what they want to use him and where he would slot into the team.

I think Worpel will slot right next to B.Smith. He will get the ball to Bailey at all cost.

If Bailey had of landed at the Hawks I thought the same thing.

If Worpel cleans up his skills he will release Smith and Holmes, whom as you know are your jets!

People are who they are... He aint cleaning up his skills 10 years into his career.

All this Curnow talk, maybe there’s an alternative.

It would be such a typical Geelong recruit.

Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has all the talent in the world.

If JUH was committed to an AFL career, I could see the cats backing their culture in to get the best out of him.

Would cost very little as well I’d imagine.

Not saying he is going to become a super star at it, just that I think he could find more consistency.

The difference between James great day and Worse days are far apart.

On his good day his hitting decent passes, just needs to do it consistently. Maybe being the 3rd or 4th best midfielder allows him the time.

Maybe Scott has some teachings that assist with his consistency.

Who knows aye!

Maybe I'm just fixating on 1 or 2 instances, but the thing I noticed in the PF was his hesitation in making decisions.

The Miers run-down was the obvious example, but sometimes it seems he's not always playing on instinct.

I think his skills are fine - not better or worse than the average.

And if we play him as an "extractor" to get it to Smith and Holmes, I think he could work.

But does he have a history of over-thinking with the ball? Because that's what could be a bigger issue.

(EDIT: a couple of typos)

At the end of the day our midfield is fairly shallow. He could be a decent extractor. And thought his first two finals were decent.
He played shockingly in the prelim imo but everyone has off days. Especially when your midfields getting smashed.

JUH will be lucky to not land in jail in the next few years or the hostipal ..I don’t think a single club would be seriously considering him at this stage needs to do a Stengle and even then there’s still a lot of long term questions

Latest update. Wilkie has been offers 1.5 by bulldogs. They are asking for freijah in return.

St kilda are asking for dekoning for Marshall with Picks going our way to chase some high quality mids
Wilkie gonna be getting some extra $$$ added onto his contract by Stkilda.

Saints surely will be starting to push that cap if they land all the guys they want + give Wilkie extra that they wouldnt have banked on needing to do.

Can't see them holding Marshall... although can't blame them having a dip at SDK (how many tall backs do they need btw).

If we could somehow get Butters over the line this year with Marshall... I'd consider SDK moving on to help get it done, but that's unlikely.

Wooooo St Kilda are saying yeah give us Freijah and we will send you Wilkie?
That would actually be decent business by the Dogs if you look at it holistically.

You've turned a nothing pick two years ago in a position you're stacked in, into one of the best defenders in the game where you're VFL standard at the moment.

If Freijah does in fact become Baby Bont, then yeah, you'd look back at it with anger. It's highly unlikely though

If Wilkie pinches you a flag or two - and he could - then you'd be a harsh marker to care at all regardless of what JF becomes.

When you've won two cups in your history with the greatest player you've ever had still at his peak, take the risk I'd say.

I don't disagree... I just doubt St Kilda would be saying yes to that.

If they have, Wilkie is goners. But I guess they are bringing in a million tall backs.

Well I guess you can ask. If I were Sam… I could see the attraction of a gig financial offer . He is a premiership player..

So SEk for Marshall and picks …. I cant see what pick they would offer that would make Geelong bite on that bait. If it cant be done then RM stays there

SDK is under contract and a best 22…would have to be some amazing picks to make that happen for a 30 year old ruckman

If a 30 year old Merrett is worth 2 first round draft picks.

SDK would have to be worth 2 first round draft picks as he is contract, has lot more potential and years ahead. KPP are harder to find and longer to develop.

A first round pick and Marshall.

* I think the saints have pick 8 or 9.

I’m sure the saints will over inflate Marshall value and undervalue SDK

It’s just the nature of the thing ..I’m sure the club would have options ready to go if Marshall doesn’t get done ..without thinking about it I’m sure Stanley at the very least could be convinced to go one more year for the club to sort out the ruck situation

But it’s already looking like the saints are being stupid with SOS in charge

I do not understand how all of a sudden a 30 year old is worth 3 first round picks and player. What an absolute load of BS!

The way I see it you over price your old players, you set a higher price for young elite talent with 15 plus years ahead of them.

Oh and did I mention potential captain material.

I’d only entertain Worpel if we got him at a bargain basement price. One-paced players are not the way to go. Much prefer to use our negotiating assets on Marshall, where the real need is.

Worpels a RFA as long as the compos right the hawks won’t match.

It will only cost you his wage
