I totally get what you’re saying but there’s no guarantee we will end up with a high end pick if we trade in a future pick. It’s just my personal view that if you can select in the top 4, you don’t give that ability away. And you get a 12 month head start on development of the player by taking them this year. The reason for considering a trade of an early draft pick for a future round pick is the premise that this years draft is weak and very few if any of the kids would be top 10 in another year. I’m sure there is some talent but I’m no expert. I watch a few CFL games and of course the highlights we all see. The supposed experts have called it a weak draft. Next years draft is considered to be very good and if the AFL introduces no matching in the first round of the draft, having an extra pick will be astounding. Worth consideration.
We’ve been chasing him for a while, don’t think we will let him go north if he nominates us.let him go to the Swans I think

yeah well, others want him, does he want to go where he is wanted? We’ve been chasing him for a while, don’t think we will let him go north if he nominates us.
Not sure anyone is suggesting trading #4 for 2 x rubbish picks. It's for a couple of top-12 picks.People want to trade for the sake of it, no other rationale behind it (trade pick 4 for some rubbish picks because it allows an extra player to be recruited).
If this guy played for another VFL team I reckon no one would say his name lolrobey and grilj seem like no-brainer choices imo. grab kellaway and rookie lockwood and scott. bingo bango bongo.
lol, with picks 3 and 4 we are looking for better than just AA or 200 gamers in terms of upsideNot sure anyone is suggesting trading #4 for 2 x rubbish picks. It's for a couple of top-12 picks.
% chance of getting a 200-gamer:
pick 3 to 5 = 36%
pick 6 to 12 = 31%
% chance of getting an AA selection:
pick 3 to 5 = 29%
pick 6 to 12 = 19%
So it's not a clear cut decision based purely on stats and averages. It really depends on how we rate the draft. And when looking at some of the names taken at #4 : Tim Walsh, McAlister, J Pickett, Fitzy, Morabito, Toumpas, Livingston, C Morton, Polak, M Bolton, Tambling.......
Let's not pretend whomever we pick at #4 is any sort of lock to be superior to both players we pick from 6 to 12. History tells us #4 is a pretty good chance of not being an elite player. I accept #4 is more chance of being elite than #7 who is more chance than #10 and so on.....but that's why we get 2 x picks versus 1.
Right now, hand on heart, I'd rather have Robey, X Taylor AND Grjl over just Robey and Sharp.
hes a pretty juicy rookie option imo. get him into a professional environment, is an upgrade on guys like sonsie ross and dow potentially. everyone knows richmond vfl is the only team worth looking at for vfl prospectsIf this guy played for another VFL team I reckon no one would say his name lol
Reckon he's a good vfl player. Not convinced he's better than either of those 3. Maybe gets a go due to the weak crop but mehhes a pretty juicy rookie option imo. get him into a professional environment, is an upgrade on guys like sonsie ross and dow potentially.
seems to be differing opinion where Grlj sits in this draft. Probably down to views on his ability to become an AFL mid v hb/wing.robey and grilj seem like no-brainer choices imo. grab kellaway and rookie lockwood and scott. bingo bango bongo.
That’s the way I see it. I don’t think he has the runs on the board to be a top five pick but if we split picks then no problem.seems to be differing opinion where Grlj sits in this draft. Probably down to views on his ability to become an AFL mid v hb/wing.
Fits a need for us. Be a great get if we were to split a pick , but at 4?
I think it's more hes such a perfect fit for us. I think he excels in our team with a dominant role as an attacking half back, transition midfielder.seems to be differing opinion where Grlj sits in this draft. Probably down to views on his ability to become an AFL mid v hb/wing.

I was guessing. F12 for all I careRosas would be a F3 surely, no way in hell I'm giving up a F2 for a bloke who was going to be delisted anyway
I already find him so annoying. But he has the good goss. So we listenI'm quickly beginning to hate Cal Twomey
Perfect (or Robey and Cumming) - and if we get picks forrobey and grilj seem like no-brainer choices imo. grab kellaway and rookie lockwood and scott. bingo bango bongo.
