I'd say five best rucks of the year in no particular order were Gawn, Grundy, Xerri, Jackson and Cameron. 23 votes for Gawn, only 6 for Grundy, 7 for Xerri, 17 for Jackson (he is the most midfielder of all the rucks) and a big fat zero for Darcy Cameron

It doesn't. None of it makes sense.

Happy for Rowell, but too often they go on quantity rather than quality. Whoever is right under their noses gets the votes and never the 3 possession three goal type who might just win the game.

He’s had a real good season, slightly above his 2022 output overall with similar impact. Definitely stronger in the tackle. Holmes/Miers/Jezza a tier above though.

Fairly or unfairly, Jeff Dalgleish is the senior umpire who umpired in the St. Kilda v Melbourne match where NWM didn't poll three votes. He's an unfashionable umpire who hasn't yet been put on the map, but this could easily shape him and he could be remembered for all the wrong reasons.
