Better than Priddis or Cripps but yeah he's not had the best year of any playerI like Rowell, but there is no ****ing way hes close to the best player or midfielder in the comp, hes not even the best mid on his team. I totally forgot about the brownlow until about 9pm last night and I couldn't be bothered tuning in. I use to enjoy watching it but it's filled with so much shit and ads that it gets drawn out way too long. Just read out the damn votes.

Looking through social media I actually feel sorry for Rowell. He wouldn't care but a lot of people highlighting his average 3 vote performances. I guess he's always going to be remembered as unworthy which is unfair because he's a great player. It's a bit like Woewodin in 2000.

I like that stats =/= votes necessarily, may as well go off SC score or champion data if thats the case, but it seems odd for a mid to still pick up 3 votes with meh numbers. Not like they're a forward who maybe had 4 goals from 6 kicks, or a back who shut out the oppo.

Idk I don't think the umpires are going to start giving 3 vote games to Salem because he had 30 dinky kicks in the backline just because they have access to the stats. It would just be a way for them to-cross reference their thoughts. Otherwise they are basically just going off vibes. It's pretty clear they've mixed up players with one another in the past too.
Or don't change anything and keep the Brownlow as a meme. Fine with that too.

Yeah umpires have a lot going on in the game. Rowell the sort of player that would do some impressive stuff that is noticeable and perhaps when the umpires reflect on the game they remember those things.

I had Langford and Ashcroft pretty even but clear gap to the top two in Reid and Curtin.
I was really unsure who would win because I don't know whether it is judged based on whole year impact or top performance. Thought Reid deserved to win on the first metric but Curtin probably played the 1st, 2nd and 3rd best games of any of the contenders, top level was better than anyone else.
