LOL at Dwayne Russell who thinks the AFL should intervene and tell the umpires what sort of player should win the Brownlow. Apparently the last 15 winners were placed in the Top 6 of contested possessions, and Nick Daicos has never been in the Top 20.

"Why is it on the umpires to value players who win the dirty ball over anyone else?" huffs the Pipe. "Who says that's more valuable who gets into space and hits up a forward lace out?"

1) It's on the umpires because they give the votes. Do you really want the AFL to tell the umpires who to vote for?
2) Because the guy who wins the hard ball (or can take a contested mark) changes the game. Three phases - they have it, it's in dispute, we have it. The Rowell's of the game - who tackle and win contest, move the phase in favour of their team.
3) Why the holy **** was I listening to Dwayne Russell in the first place?

Daicos is a massive flog. Plays for frees, appeals like a shit bowler and then gets rewarded, cracks it at his tammates when he shouldn't ... he and Smith are both talented players but they are just shit players as far as sportsmanship and being classy humans goes.
