Petracca looked to be really happy next to Gawn and having a good time, doesn't seem like a Captain afraid of one of their star players and mates walking away.

I noticed Danger said he was gonna go visit Curnow I'm not Sure if Dawson is bold enough to go and chat with a star and convince them to come over. Doesn't really seem like the type.

Neither of them seem like the two to air out dirty laundry in a public forum.

They're mates and team mates but both very professional and both understand that this is a business, I have no doubt from the concerns raised in the media last year that they would've been in constant dialogue the whole year about where they are both at.

Wouldn't think anything of it.

Anyone else think that the Petracca comes with a bit of risk given his age and serious injury?
If it was an achilles like Draper I'd be against snaring Petracca. I didn't want Draper at all in the first place, but the achilles injury is a career wrecker IMO.

Physically, Petracca should be fully recovered. But mentally? The horrendous nature of that injury surely sits in the back of his mind. Who knows how this might affect his performance long term?

I'd still be doing everything possible though to get him to the Crows. The guy's a formidable player.

I suppose the question should be whether there's any reason the injury Petracca sustained last season could have any lingering affects physically. I honestly don't know one way or the other, I'd have assumed not though and more the mental side which you think getting through this season would have been a big tick on that front.
Ahh snap.

It's good to see that we're chasing a high profile player especially given he fits what we need, but I'm just concerned this may backfire and linger for a few years.

Is it just me being negative?
I've got concerns also.
Too old, not the right fit for our team.

Do you guys think if Merrett is forced to stay with the new board implying. trac then will end up at hawks?

I think he has gone, the new board implying him needing to stay is obviously trying to gain back some control and generate some more trade value rather than a disgruntled player walking and the club needing to take whatever they can get.

But in the off chance he does a 180 - absolutely they will pivot to Petracca and I think that'd be his preference if a possibility.

Gawn from 2.10 re Petracca

Personally think he is on the move and whoever lands him will get a better player than this year.

Obviously everyone would prefer NWM. But who else is realistically on the market?

We are desperate for an elite mid. The only ones that seem to be available (to us, anyway) is Oliver and Petracca. Looks like the Crows are making it known their preference between the two is Petracca.

I’m sure they would loved a Walsh/Bailey profile, or a Sydney/GWS/GC midfield jet but aren’t getting any bites.

As long as we don’t go crazy with the trade it’s worth the risk. Our pick is probably 25 after all the academy and FA bullshit, in what is a pretty shit draft. So you do that. Next years first is where it begins to get a little scary.

But whatever the club does, they can’t do nothing. We simply can’t ruin our window by having Berry as our starting mid.

No chance he can go back to the club given how it’s played out.

Fully expect them to get full value and Hawks to pay more for Merrett than we will for Petracca (if that happens).

Yes, to me the only way we get Petracca is if Merrett goes to Hawthorn and Flanders picks a Melbourne club other than Melbourne

JUH is so interesting do you blow 800k just for the one year remaining on his contract to see if it would work?

His issues are a mile long but there surely will be a club that takes that chance and cap hit.

Amiss from Freo also seems like he's looking for somewhere new doesn't like being third string and if Sydney we're looking for a key forward probably best to start there.

Not really. There are concerns . But of the many who have been attached to us - I believe - Petracca is the most professional in his outlook and attitude

He has port written all over him. They are just the club to not worry about his history and see the bright lights of a key forward that can fix all their problems.

Inb4 this time next year he's All Australian and a Premiership player at Geelong despite having a few late night "naps" at night clubs with Tys.
