I also agree this stuff shouldn’t be suspended, but precedent clearly has it being suspended regardless of the tribunal twisting themselves into contortions arguing otherwise.

A key question when they argue about the impact or other things is could they have had less impact on their opponent. I think this is a clear example that if he was tackling will day at training he wouldn’t have caused as much damage, as he clearly drove hard in the tackle. Like Maynard driving the shoulder into Brayshaw

Sanity prevails.

Difference between this and the Curtis tackle is Butler being the other party.

Curtis shouldn't have been suspended either. Shit tribunal call.

Stewart gutlessly sniped one of our players off the ball. No apology, no remorse, nothing. Likewise from his coach. He's also been involved in at least a half dozen other incidents that I posted on his thread from this season where he did the jumping "smother" bump and was somehow let off the hook.

So yes, myself and all the other Richmond supporters that booed him every time he went near the ball when we last played will continue to hate the sniping dog for the rest of his career.

You mean apart from the personal apology he gave Prestia after getting his phone number from Jack Riewoldt?

Or did you want him to actually contact all the Tigers members personally and go through them to do it?

Tell me, have any of you actually graduated pre-school or have you all had to wait to re-sit your glue-eating exams again

Yeah that's the bit that doesn't sit well with me. Stewarts momentum was driving forward after shaking the Butler (I think) tackle, chol commits the 2nd but falls into the momentum and poor Stewart cops the weight of both of them on the way down.

This one as much as any falls into accidental, but they have suspended others as well who are stiff.
The Butler tackle in this one, has a pretty big influence on the outcome.

If remove Butler from the situation Stewart and Chol probably don't even go to ground a I think that's a pretty big distinction in this case to some others.

Michael Christian's charge against Chol 'high contact, severe impact and careless conduct' and its pursuit by Albert Dinellu for the AFL, was rightly thrown out by the tribunal. What staggers me is that the charge was even brought in the first place when video evidence clearly shows, as the tribunal noted, a tangle of legs between Chol, Stewart and Sam Butler had contributed to the outcome. Don't people have eyes? Or is the AFL so scared of being held accountable for accidents that it wants to shift the blame to individuals?

The last part is probably a bit of a key here. When push comes to shove in years to come they will hold up that charge sheet and say ‘well at least we tried to do something and a member of your Players’ Union that’s now leading a class action argued against it’

I agree with your point, for what it’s worth. He should never have been charged.

Mate, if the exact tackles were the other way around, some new ridiculous justification would be used to get the same outcome

If chol played for north and Curtis hawthorn, the suspensions would work out the opposite

And fyi neither should have been suspended
Curtis also punched a guy in the throat and only got 1 week so I wouldn't be complaining too much if I were you.

Imagine being a Richmond fan's wife or kids.

If you ever said or did anything bad to them, even years and years ago, they'd always bring it up out of nowhere and tell you how it makes you an evil person and they will hold onto it forever and never ever forget about it.
lol- bunch of weakies.

Yep so much remorse that he's consistently involved in similar incidents.

Liberatore, Darcy & Meek also punched guys in the throat......crickets.
Should've all been done too with varying severity. Lynch got 5 weeks when he can't physically clench his hand and the guy he swung at was completely uninjured. There's a huge disparity in intent vs outcome, and then occasionally the MRO/tribunal throws the "potential to cause injury" clause in there to condemn a player if needed.

The real issue here is not that Chol was cleared. It is that he was charged, and pursued by the AFL in the first place. And Chol is not the first to have been wrongly indicted.
What is apparent is that the AFL hierarchy is attempting to shift the legal liability to the players and away from itself. By charging every player involved in an incident that results in concussion it is arguing that if there are any long term consequences it is the player who is culpable.
I am surprised that the players' association isn't on to this in a big way.

I think this is where people go wrong. Hate Stewart all you want, call him a sniper, but don’t change the facts and reality to suit your view. He and Chris Scott publicly apologised numerous times.

Yeah it’s amazing how in a contact sport he’s contacted a player in the ribs - God only knows why you still seem so upset about this - and his only other two incidents of any controversy whatsoever were both going for a ball. One an attempt to smother a handball and the other an incident where two players both chased a loose ball on the ground from opposite directions. It’s a good thing you don’t follow rugby league. You’d be laughed out of every stadium you entered in tears.

the injury cheering from Richmond people is insane lol, what a bunch of muppets

I did laugh at a comment or two saying essentially ‘can’t wait for the melts from Cats fans about Chol getting off.’

I don’t think I’ve seen a single complaint on the main or Geelong boards about it 😂😂😂

I’m glad he got off. There was nothing wrong with it.
