From the Hawks board about Petracca (no idea of credibility). I would be surprised if we aren't the other club referred to here.
Well after a less than fun coffee meet with my ex I've got some info that's different to what popular opinion is at the moment.

Regarding Trac, we're as heavily invested in getting him as we were since before the Merrett saga began. If anything talks have become more serious lately from both with a lot of dialogue happening between the two camps. We're also aware that at least one other club is getting seriously engaged.
The difference between Trac & Zach is that whilst Zach is pretty much committed to us Trac is still making up his mind where he'll go or even if he will go.
The Dees are very keen for him to stay but the word is (unlike Essendon) if he requests a move they wont stand in his way but will try to facilitate a trade.
We're 'pretty confident' we'll be able to get him but there's still lots to happen yet and Trac needs to make a decision.

Nothing specifically regarding Zach except that we're now beginning to get into serious talks with Essendon. I have no idea (nor does the ex) what offers are currently being discussed.

He said we're also looking at two other players (wouldn't/couldn't say who) but not as high profile and in 'minor talks' at this stage.

And yet.....

I suffer from the bigotry of low expectation when it comes to luring a player like this across. I suspect that our summer dealings will net AhChee, maybe Stevens from Geelong and a real longshot is either Butler from the Hawks or Hollands from Carlton. We will end up keeping our 1st for the draft.

For some back end draft capital, if we did end up with say 3 of the above and then went to the draft and grabbed a player there with our 1st, it won't be a bad of season. But it might not be enough when looking at what our rivals are doing o strengthen

Is there a way we can have a rumour only thread and a discussion thread?
If we created a rumour only thread that only Mods could post in and you could PM a mod with a rumour to post and then be credited for it or remain anonymous of it's a juicy one.

Would people appreciate that?

Is that something this board would like??

I reckon that would work... we used to have two threads - one for rumours only and one for commentary, but people couldn't help themselves and would reply in the rumours only thread. Your suggestion has merit.

I have a feeling Trac is going to drag this out until a team gives him a deadline. He's not moving for financial gain, and it looks like he's moving interstate if he changes clubs. So he'll sit on this decision to the bitter end if allowed to.

I think he will listen to both the Suns and Adelaide and make a decision from there given that he's open to both clubs.

This is Tom Morris' exact quote this morning.

“He will start to meet with clubs.

“Gold Coast Suns are on his radar. Adelaide is on his radar.

“Last year he was just looking at traditionally big Victorian clubs. This year his gaze has widened.

“If this is going to progress - and I believe it will progress - he’s going to have to meet with these sorts of clubs.

“The Crows are certainly interested and Gold Coast Suns are certainly interested as well. I think that feeling is mutual from Petracca.

“He would have liked Hawthorn but I think that’s highly unlikely, if not impossible now, given the Zach Merrett situation.”

No ...we would like thread authenticity across all threads .....it's really not hard

I don't think he wants to leave Vic it'll be a last resort if he does and he only wants to go to a contending side so I think he'll sit tight and wait to see if Hawthorn can acquire Merrett or not.

Essendon seem to be a very strong no on Merrett leaving which opens the door for Petracca to move to Hawthorn which I would guess is his number 1 choice.

Even then I reckon Petracca would still prefer Gold Coast over us. He would be the their third or fourth best midfielder behind Anderson Rowell and Miller. Gold coast also have a lot of talent they can trade out for him.

If he comes to Adelaide he'll be the great white hope and instantly become the number 1 or 2 behind Dawson I'm not sure how wants that.

I agree with most of that. Especially the part where he doesn't actually want to leave Victoria. And that he's waiting on the Merrett stuff to play out. Although that is still pretty weird, I would've thought his pride would be so damaged that he would be filthy at the Hawks for cooling on him.

I don't necessarily agree he wants to be on the Gold Coast. Even with them coming good, going to the GC (where sports clubs have a 0% success rate, stadiums are always half empty, and their stars walk the streets in complete anonymity) sounds likes the polar opposite of a place that "Brand Petracca" would thrive.

This is 100 % the case

If we don't get Trac we are ready to pull the trigger on Oliver, groundwork already done
I'm curious if Melbourne would be willing to lose both of them. They might have been open to Oliver going when Petracca was staying but if he goes, are they still willing to lose Oliver too?

I have seen Stevens from Geelong pop up a couple of times from posters but without any substance or backing.
What have I missed? Are we actually a chance of getting him?
