Apparently we've spoken to Rowell's management. Not that I expect that'll happen but hypothetically if it did Rowy was the first one that came to mind that we would move on. Plays a similar position and most likely to lose his spot. His sister also plays for GC so I could see a trade where we send them Rowy plus some for Rowell.

Ive been thinking Rowy could be on the chopping block for a while now and when he was moved forward more than only served to affirm it even more. I really wouldn't be surprised if we did move him on. Great defensively and id never question that. But doesn't get enough of the ball.

If signings from this year are out, that means Campbell is out. The two id be watching are Juzzy, OOC next season and Rowbottom who i feel is expendable.

I am a prophet

Wouldn’t surprise me if a big name swan is heading to the Gold Coast in a three way trade to facilitate curnow getting ti Gold Coast

Just out of curiosity, how does a big name Swan, going to the Suns, help facilitate Curnow also going to the Suns?

I would have thought the Swan going to the Suns, would facilitate Curnow going to the Swans? Or am i crazy?

If Rowbottom is being floated as a potential out then is that part of a larger trade for Curnow or a separate deal altogether?

Swans would need to have a lot of faith in Cleary for this happen. I don’t hate the idea of losing Rowbottom if it drastically improves our list but we are short a Dunkley as it is, we can’t exactly afford to lose any more players who play in that mould.

The criticism of our team is that we have a bunch of front runners who capitulate under pressure. Losing Rowbottom doesn’t really help us shirk that narrative does it.

You'd hope it's separate because otherwise we'd be losing 10+ tackles a game and right when our midfield numbers were on the improve.

Losing Paddles for a forward that won't play 30 games for us is a mistake
What does he bring to the team besides defensive pressure? It was pretty obvious towards the end of thebseason when he was moved forward that Cox doesn't really rate him that highly.

A team that has no defensive pressure removing a player that brings defensive pressure...

Tbh I know I rate Rowbottom higher than others (he could be our best contested mid) but it is more about not wanting Curnow. We don't need an older forward with bad knees

Seconding the question as to why Gold Coast would be after Rowy. Same said for Carlton.

Amusing to see people happy to trade out players who are the best at what they do for us, in areas we're generally deficient. It's like saying we need to strengthen key defensive stocks and trading out Tmac or Melican.

He was getting pushed out of the midfield imo so it seems like it could be a mutual decision to look around. I'm sure he'll end up where his career will progress the best and it could be still be with us.

No you are not crazy. You are reading to much into the anti Curnow crew here on Swans BF. I’m not exactly Pro Curnow but we are a weird mob here that majority would prefer JUH. 😂

Agree with this

So unless we’ve actually decided to trade in a key inside mid then we have to take the view that on the coaches views Cleary is better than rowbottom or Roberts better or gulden ??

I’m the first to think we need to improve everywhere so if someone was to tell me we are trading rowbottom for lachie neale then sure. Or id accept moving on rowbottom to get bourbon because we think that the positives outweigh the negatives.

What makes zero sense to me is that we would be shopping rowbottom to the Gold Coast. I could see him at port or west coast or Essendon but Gold Coast makes zero sense
