Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

I think any sort of compensation for a player out of contract is absolutely ludicrous to start with. They should just kill it. period.
There advantage of top 4 teams raiding lower clubs through free agency still needs to be squeezed a little.

I’d love to deal with the GC re Charlie tradeas they have the most assets both in terms of players and picks, but get the feeling they would prefer the free hit of Elliot vs overpaying for Charlie, as much as I’ve love Humphrey. If this did eventuate surely we would enquire about Ben Ainsworth? An Elliot arrival could squeeze him out.

The same murphy Reid that won the rising star you mean? A ‘B’ grader.

But we know jagga is ‘A’ grade?

He may well be but our draft record hasn’t been flash.

All we know so far is he is very talented. Quick etc. But he is very skinny and has done a knee already.

But ok Jagga is ‘A’ grade and Murphy Reid is a ‘B’ grader.

We could have had two good choices instead of one. And built our team that way. Langford, Reid etc

But we thought jagga would be the cherry on top. How wrong they were.
Had a brief chat today. He's put on some size & the knee is good. MCC boy 😂

Free Agency has run its course IMO. Every player is technically a free agent. Players wanting out and asking for trade always get to choose where they want to go, contracted or not. Scrap free agency altogether. Let’s clubs trade for the player they want. None of this getting players for free business and then compensation which affects every club.

I like Hayward in this deal. But I would pushing harder on the picks. Get swans to get pick 2 from WC themselves. May need to package #9 with McDonald.

Curnow >> Hayward, #2, F1 sounds better to me.

Are there any promising 21-24 year olds that could be targeted with TDK compo?
On trade 2 for a later first this year plus another future 1st. Or even a player and a future first.

Lions 5 flags since 2000

How the **** do these clubs do it. 🤦‍♂️
Simply a well run club. Coaching, Development, Recruitment ..etc

Carlton are living proof that it does matter how many high end picks you get or father sons, if your club is poorly run it will fail.

it is not surprising that the 3 clubs one would have about the least confidence in long term success have 3 of their very best players looking at leaving. Carlton, Essendone, and North.

Did people watch the game today and think, another key forward is what either team needed? All I could think today was, we desperately need a few players like Lohman, Rayner, Ah Chee, Close, Myers, Stengle, more than we need Charlie.

I would happily take Miers and Close in a straight swap for Charlie (okay maybe not straight swap)

Miers is a goal assist king, the perfect kick inside 50 and would revolutionise our side
Close plays the pressure forward role better than anyone on our list, kicks goals and gets up and down the ground with no issue - imagine Fogarty but really good

Miers has done well to make it this far in the AFL given his handicap growing up.

…..that is growing up with a first name of Gryan.

So a Hayward type would be appealing to you? For me he's one of the better mid-sized forwards in the AFL.

He’s appealing but I’m more thinking targeting elite smalls. Like when Brisbane went out and got Cameron, I think they paid a pick around 6 or when Adelaide poached Betts, people thought their deal was way overs at the time.

It’s a huge area of concern for us and one I don’t think we have out much effort in to fixing

Issue is can't see how Charlie gets us one atm. None of the teams linked really have any they'd be willing to let go. Humphrey would be our best best but seems Suns aren't letting him go. And even across the competition it doesn't seem like a heap are moving clubs.

Hayward can play tall but he is also pretty good at ground level. Might be our most realistic option.

Players don’t need to be from these teams, get the currency and go shopping.
