On one of the podcasts Twomey predicted McGuane as a late/rookie pick now. Fwiw he also suggested McCarthy was in the 25 to 45 range. Still not that much currency but a lot less maneuvering than it looked like at the start of the year.
And to be perfectly frank I think it also demonstrates that it would be understandable and not the end of the world if the club chose not to draft them. If there are better options on the board.

You were watching different VFL games to me then, even the coaches singled out TJ's magoos form for praise which carries significantly more weight than your zero, makes me wonder if you've seen him play at all.
Jiath is certainly an attacking runner, keen to be in a position to receive. He has zero interest in being accountable as a defender. It won Brad Hardie a Brownlow but his team(s) didn’t play in finals.

I don't think Beau will be a proper mid for a while - more stoppages but then stay ahead of the ball. I don't think he'll have the endurance to cover the ground that the pure mids have.
I tend to agree though I would like to be pleasantly surprised. He’s done well in his midfield stints but I’d like to see hitting the scoreboard more in his forward role as a priority as well.

Yet, looked like he had never seen a football in his one AFL match.....
He had some ok games in the VFL this season but as I said nothing to write home about. If the selection panel genuinely thought he was in the best core 26 to play this season, he would have in the second half of the year when we were missing key backline pieces.
But if you think Jiath is gonna be a player, more power to you.
Going by that warped logic of a one game sample you must think West doesn't have much of a future given his modest debut. Fyi Jiath was shut down with injury round 13 so I'm not sure how you can break into the side when you're out for the season and not playing. Happy to clear that up for you because clearly you weren't paying attention.

for those wanting us to trade a big fish or grab a player before McCarthy (around 30ish bid), just a reminder these are our picks

Collingwood: 34, 52, 64, 70

With those we have to trade for Buller ( late pick swap) match a bid on McCarthy. Then add mcgaune which atleast will probably be 40’s plus.

We don’t have the currency to make moves unless we trade out of next year which nobody wants to do.

our interest in May would stem from Melb want him gone, so costs nothing
Cats haven’t had a top 5 pick in over 30 years. Let that sink in.
Stewart Devlin was selected at pick 5 in 1990 by Geelong.

We have done this very well…. Good job, Cheesey!

Swoop Luke is suggesting we’re (well Collingwood is) into Blight (delisted from Richmond) who have a plethora of tallish defenders. (Sorry if this has already been mentioned). Given the cost factor and his skills it sounds like a wise choice to go after him.

He too is going off that socal media rumour that he has done a medical. Just speculation at this point from a richmond fan account.

Be very happy with Blight. Like his potential.

McCarthy is a definite. Surprised McGuane could be relegated to a rookie pick......

TJ's got a long way to go. He gets a lot of standing still receives at VFL because he's mistimed his run and just stops and waits. He's a good enough athlete to be able to receive flat footed at VFL, but it will be awful at AFL level.

I think this is just about confidence and taking more shots. He just always looks to pass it off.

Has McGuanne tanked for us to pay less? Or has he dropped off?
