I wasn't on here much on Saturday, did people note the shot of him after the siren? Could just be confirmation bias but looked different to the elation and jubilation of the rest, and could easily read into it as him knowing it's his last hurrah with them.
It was very much that, even he said "I just needed to soak it all in"

Same bunch.
Pretty disappointing if we don't make any changes to the coaching panel. Reeks of the "near enough is good enough" mentality that has plagued our club for years. At a minimum, Godden and Van Berlo should be moved on.

The club will no doubt spend all summer pulling themselves off over 18 wins.

Didnt someone in here write something about Marty Mattner? Or was that just hope.

Throw that in the bin you reckon? Hopefully they’re miserable all Summer I say! No smiling allowed.

Amazingly you can be proud of finishing 1st and have belief your best can get it done during the regular season, but also be motivated to address the finals failure and go further next season. Both things can be true.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard Tex as flat as he was in the immediate days after the semi final, quite clearly it’s hurting them as well.

We should be happy with the improvement but disappointed with the result. We're a good side but we need to add more than just Rankine if we want to be a contender.

You don’t think they’re already doing that by going for the likes of Ah Chee, Petracca and Oliver?

I can’t remember ever being linked to a name the size of Petracca when they aren’t an Adelaide native, so we are clearly being aggressive in this area.

Hopefully the Petracca and Oliver rumours are real and not the media just making stuff up. Every second player is "open to a move" at this time of year.

I dont think weve added any 2 time premiership winners to our playing list since Wayne Carey, and that worked out..... oh wait, nevermind.

The fact Vic based AFL media are mentioning us as a potential landing spot is encouraging. Whether or not it works out is the big thing.

Oliver one is a real, our interest has been well documented for 3 years now. Melbourne thought they could go again this year and contend with the same list and failed badly, so while they aren’t saying it publicly, clearly they’ve acknowledged they need to reset the list.

When it comes to mail on Melbourne, Tom Morris is the only journo I trust and he’s been strongest on Petracca wanting a fresh start if a deal can be struck.

We were linked with Oliver 3 years ago. There's nothing to suggest we're "going for" him this off-season.

Nobody has mentioned Oliver as a trade target.

I think it would be disappointing if we think we only need to improve the playing list and not the coaching group

That sort of thinking aligns a bit too closely with the "blame the players" mentality when things get a bit tough.

Adding Ah Chee and maybe another player would be good, improving the way we coach the midfield would be even better

Losing Burgess should open up soft cap space too.

Didn’t you like the minor rounds?
Its a fair question though, ultimately the season ended in failure as we didn't win the flag after giving ourselves the double chance in the finals. I was at an end of season presentation for a soccer club here in SA a couple of weeks back and the head coach, quality guy and a very good coach, got up and gave a great speech. The club had just fallen short of getting promoted to the NPL. They had the best season they had ever had but lost in the play offs. The coach gave plaudits but ultimately he said, for all the hard work you put in this year, it wasn't enough, we failed and when we turn up day 1 preseason we go again and know that we have to improve its as simple as that so we have to work harder and get better.

Yes the minor round the side can take on board as being a great improvement but they were way off it in the finals and now have to start again day 1 preseason and they have to get better if they want to win anything.

The new Thebarton facility being ready in time for next season is an underrated factor in attracting Petracca. Melbourne players hate going out to Casey for training, that’s been openly noted by players in the media over the years.

Josh Gabelich had the % chance of Petracca staying at Melbourne at 25%.

I thought Melbourne train at Gosch's Paddock in the city centre?
