The new Thebarton facility being ready in time for next season is an underrated factor in attracting Petracca. Melbourne players hate going out to Casey for training, that’s been openly noted by players in the media over the years.

Josh Gabelich had the % chance of Petracca staying at Melbourne at 25%.
Apparently why Mark Williams was originally let go too. Hated having to go to Casey for games and wanted to stay with the AFL squad, which was the opposite of what his actual job is/was.

Viva la Mattner gets good mail and has mentioned our interest. I’ve spoken to him over DM and his source is good.

The amount of posters on here at this time of the year with good mail is about as prevalent as contracted players being linked to moves away from their clubs.

I think the majority of fans would be ho-hum if we went out and blew first round picks on Oliver. Trac, on the other hand, is a different story. But with Burgess gone, our chances of landing him are virtually gone.

I do like the idea of Sholl for Hollands. Carlton would probably want more, but not sure they can reasonably demand much at all, and he could even be on his way to being delisted
Carlton won’t want more - they want him out….

It’s a fair player exchange considering Sholl finished top 10 BnF in 2024

No way should we be looking at Hollands.

He was pushed out of Gold Coast, and now Carlton are pushing him out just one year later. Missed a lot of footy this year.

His problems obviously can’t be fixed.

If we do trade him it will be for pick 99. But we shouldn’t.

Exactly this, we would be wasting a list spot at this point.

Such a shame, but it does feel like hes another talented player that is on the brink of red flagging himself out of his own career.

Isn't it essentially a free hit though? If his off field problems persist, it's an easy delist with no valuable draft capital lost. The only possible downside I can see here is if his bullshit corrupts our other players. It could just as easily go the other way though.

For all the talk of Nicks rebuilding the culture, people really don't want to put that theory to the test.

No one aas suggested a first rounder for Oliver. The rumours around us and Petracca are absolute constant and across all AFL reporting. It may not happen, but his reason for coming is not just because of a fitness program.

Yeah, at some point the club is going to have decide if the culture is strong enough to manage wayward players (may depend on whether or not he's a complete figjam or dickhead though)

He's got 1 year left on his existing contract. Why offer any more without specific performance/behavioural triggers?

If we are trading our first rounder this year, do we need both a second and third this year?

The nerds said that we didn’t

No, the needing of 2nds 3rds and 4th rounders only relates to trading future 1st round picks never current ones

It's to stop clubs clearing out two whole years worth of picks... with future picks you can keep your 1st and trade all the others out or you can trade your future 1st but need to keep future picks in all the other subsequent rounds don't necessarily have to be yours but need a pick in 2nd 3rd and 4th rounds

You don’t think they’re already doing that by going for the likes of Ah Chee, Petracca and Oliver?

I can’t remember ever being linked to a name the size of Petracca when they aren’t an Adelaide native, so we are clearly being aggressive in this area.
Do you think anyone in the coaching group should be moved on?

Or that it needs a refresh?

Throw that in the bin you reckon? Hopefully they’re miserable all Summer I say! No smiling allowed.

Amazingly you can be proud of finishing 1st and have belief your best can get it done during the regular season, but also be motivated to address the finals failure and go further next season. Both things can be true.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard Tex as flat as he was in the immediate days after the semi final, quite clearly it’s hurting them as well.

We didnt finish 1st. We finished 5th.
Lets not kid ourselves. The home and away season means squat.
