List Mgmt. 2026 - What do we need?

Worner is clearly a good defender that will only get better with age. Worth keeping him on the list.
Not off the list as depth .
He’s great depth .. not so much b22 every week.

Our game plan more than anything (outside of another good small/medium fwd) desperately and I mean desperately needs run and attack from the backline.
We are the slowest , most laborious and ridiculously ineffective side in the comp when it comes from attacking from the backline and putting are oppo defence under the pump

We are going to have some selection squeezes next season. The forwardline is still our most glaring area of need. When looking at the list it does look imbalanced playing two rucks and three KPFs. What is everyone's b23 looking like? So far I have 18 players locked in.

Reid and Bolton to play 50/50 forward and midfield I think.

I think Reid playing more midfield time puts more pressure on midfield spots and opens up a forward spot.

Another winger and put the heat of NOD and Sharp to play the other side.

Get Dudley fit and find some consistency.

Decide if Sam Sturt will ever be a player. No more 29yo project players.

Decide if JOM can be the on ball battering ram.

See what the Dees want for McVee, they have been difficult to deal with historically.

We resigned Ras when he had trade currency, decide what his role is.

If you could pick the perfect type of player to complement our forwards , who would you pick?

3 tall forwards, Frederick, Bolton/Reid and Switta??

Would a 185 to 190cm agile forward compliment these or do we need a true small forward?

Kosi Pickett

Talls can bring it to ground and he can legit feast and apply pressure.

I was more thinking of type of players we draft.

Would Mitch Marsh work? 190cm forward
Or does it need to be a smaller forward
Yeah I’d take the big 🦬 at our first no probs.
After that maybe NHH?…Sam cumming if he slips? agree has to be fwd , small or medium

Otherwise might be worth downgrading and just grabbing a combo of Pickett and fred

You make JOM sound like a sex toy :)

Small forward and Fat side winger are are two biggest needs if we are locking away McVee to come into the team.
I think we have options within the squad to move to a wing, Wagner and Chapman would be my first choices. So for mine, it’s really that small forward depth we need, which is why I’m not adverse to trialling Walker and Simpson over the summer to put pressure on Dudley to work his butt off to get AFL fit.

ps. Most won’t like it, but Banfield played his best games this year as a winger, so I expect him to be lining up there over the preseason.

We need a coach that can get the most out this teams talent.

So far, JLo is like the old codger who has been handed the keys to a flash sportscar and just does not know how to get the performance that the car is built for.
18 months ago David King said Brisbane should sack Fagan.

Think the talls almost cancel out the need for a medium forward tbh.

Of course there's still room for 185cm player that can play like a small forward when the ball hits the deck.

Think a version of Switta more suited to playing closer to goal would be ideal. A player that can provide heaps of pressure and tbh the goals, goal assists etc would be a bonus.

We probably need a medium forward as depth (to replace a KPF when injured). Not sure I'd use a first rounder on that though.

Agree, Frederick plays like a medium tall at times as well.

It is a bit of pity, because Mitch Marsh would be close to be available at our pick.

I assume if we go a small forward it will be either Jevan Phillipou or Lachy Dovaston.

I like the look of Sam Cummings. I wonder if he could play as a 50/50 fwd/mid in the AFL, then we could squeeze him into our side.

Read somewhere that Freo really like Cumming.

Tbh though I'm happy enough with the best available small/medium player at pick 18 or so.

I'll be pretty pissed off if we draft a genuine tall at that selection but it's much easier to fit smaller players into our best 23. Not going to be too pissed off if it's not one of our main needs provided we address those later on.

What we do with the last few list spots could be as important as our first rounder this year. Nail the drafting of a mature ager and it's someone that's at least part of our depth for 5+ years starting pretty much straight away (some mature agers still need a year in the system).

I am happy with any player that is either a small/medium forward or outside mid.

With McVee coming in, I don't think we need half back flank and our depth is very good in this area. I would like us to use all of our picks except 1 for backup ruck on outside mid, forward flanks or small forwards.

The question is how much of a drop off are you prepared to take, to fill a need. I think we saw in the year we need a 2nd KPF that reaching has its own risks.
