I don't doubt the club is trying, but Robertson has made it clear he is open to moving to Victoria, where he will find at least one middle of the pack suitor, probably more (think Carlton, Melbourne, Essendon).

All trump the prospect of starting fresh at rock bottom - especially when your main card to play is 'I couldn't crack the best but I can probably play for the rest'.

Yeah but he's just not good on a flank. Not fast enough.

He is actually. Just not a damaging kick, or a high IQ sort of a player, so struggles to make much of an impact in those outside roles.

Physically very capable though and with some continuity at AFL level he might do bit of a Benny Keays, get comfortable at the level playing inside mid and eventually find a way to impact at half forward or on the wing as he gets forced out of the middle.

To be fair, that year he was best 22 in a losing Grand Final side. Not saying the subsequent two years was not forseeable, but you could see a reason why he'd back himself in to have success at Brisbane.
