Game Day AFL Grand Final - Geelong Cats vs Brisbane Lions, 27th September 2025 2:30pm AEST @ MCG

Bears are good because of F/S and rebuilding at the right time in the right way.

Geelol have made the GF because of farms, cotton on and rule changes to suit them.

Interesting comment from a Geelong fan:

"My Question is is it time to bottom out?

2007 to 2011 Geelong was a great team.

Since then its been a good team.

We have 1 flag in the last 14 seasons, and I wonder if the Melbourne Bar incident didn't happen we would be 0 from 14.

Harsh Reality-

2019 Lose to eventual premiers Pick 3 from Draft is BOG
2020 Lose to eventual premiers Pick 3 from Draft is BOG
2021 Lose to eventual premiers Pick 2 from Draft goes on to be Norm Smith Medalist
2024 Lose to eventual premiers Pick 2 from Draft goes on to be Norm Smith Medalist
2025 Lose to eventual premiers Pick 2 from Draft goes on to be Norm Smith Medalist

We have a good team, but when the chips are down we have no Jets to blow the game away.

Will Ashcroft Pick 2
McCluggage Pick 3
Raynor Pick 1

We are a top 4 side, but can we truely win any more premierships while we go around with no True top draft picks.

Danger single handeldy got us into the Grand Final, but he's 35 and cant do it every week anymore.

I see us maintaning finals and good results, but lets be honest how do we turn this list into a premiership contender?

Worpell and Marshall aren't going to do it.

Saturday for me highlights the down side of not droppping out for all our success 2012 to 2025-

Sydney same amount of flags
Bulldogs same amount of flags
Melbourne same amount of flags
Brisbane 1 more flag than us
Richmond 2 more flags than us
Hawthorn 2 more flags than us

Brisbane is now considered the team of the century but would they be without a 2017 wooden spoon
Richmond have 2 spoons and 3 flags
Melbourne have 2 spoons
Even the Bulldogs have a wooden spoon, but after that was able to land a top 5 draft pick in the Bont

Hawthorn had a number one draft pick in Luke Hodge who could play a bit.

What is our direction moving forward because I am not seeing us win a flag for a long time now, contend yes, but are we just hanging around waiting for a year where all the horses fall over? Do we become the Steven Bradbury of the AFL?

Are we going to be able to compete with Hawthorn, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide in 2 years time?"

It's almost like Geelong are too proud to bottom out and rebuild. Sometimes a club needs to go backwards in order to go forward.

Funny. "But we always compete"

Who gives a shit if you don't get the cup lol

You need to compete in order to be in contention for Premierships but a team needs top end talent to get there too. It wouldn't hurt for Geelong to drop down ladder to get draft picks. But they won't.

Favourite moments:

Dangerflog not touching the ball
Sniff not touching the ball
Sniff getting absolutely annihilated into the turf by Rayner
Geelol still in the game with 5 minutes to go in the third
Geelol 10 goals down basically a half hour later
Catman eating cat food in the week leading up to the GF with his.. whoever that is (wife, mum, hooker)
Sniff saying he'll do lines after he wins the GF
Sniff playing the mental health card
Sniff getting upset at the photographer, then comes to the Brownlow in 90s sunnies and wants all the attention in the world
Sniff 'breaking up' with that whore he was with for a bit and she still didn't want to be with him
Dangerflog playing the game of his life the week before
This thread:
Sniff getting upset with Andrews when they're 50 points down
Scott going up to the Ashcroft brothers with the camera right beside him after the match
Scott complaining about the rules after a Grand Final like a salty ****wit he is
...and Stewart missing the GF

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA

Great point that...."are the cameras on me, are the cameras on me?"....yep.....OK, let me seek out the Ashcroft brothers and show what a great sport I am. Remember when he went into Dimma's coaches box to congratulate him in 2020.....absolutely disingenous 'look at me...look at me' behaviour from the salt mine.\

When he had the chance to be genuinely gracious in the presser when asked some unscripted questions that was his chance to be gracious....he simply couldn't do it and that's the measure of the man.

Remember when John Elliott said that the Carlton football club will never go through a rebuild? How's that worked out for them? 😄
