Keep Egan and Iles is all I have to say. Egan has had a bad run with injury and has talent. Iles will become a good senior player in years to come.

I'd just like to know which kids we have that will take the most contested marks in the league next year. As much as Rocca is frustrating he does his role well and it is up to the small forwards not him to keep the ball locked in attack. You cannot fault a guy that gives yu 100% each week!!

Simple for me.

I would much prefer to keep young blokes who may develop into guns such as Iles and Egan over older blokes who would only be kept for depth such as Lonie, Holland and Licuria.

My opinion, get rid of Richards, he is the softest player in the AFL, that is why i would delist richards, bryan will go in hard, he is not scared, im not saying he is a superstar but i would prefer bryan over richards. Other players that should be gone are:

Lonie
Holland
Lica
Toovey
Presti (retire)
Johnno (traded)

Couldn't agree more.
Keep Iles and Egan ect but get rid of the old blokes who are just taking up space and are pretty much VFL players not like Licuria and Holland

I read last week an article (sorry don't have source) where Malthouse said in a press conference leading up to Geelong game that Kevin Dyas was going to be offered a rookie list contract but was going home to discuss the decision with his family.

I would like to say here well done to Kevin!!

Pretty confident that Kevin will agree too. There would not have been a better time to come than when he did with Collingwood showing outstanding form and work rate with massive crowds, private jets, media attention and Marty Clarke being right in the centre. We could not have scripted it better for wowing this guy with his initial taste of AFL. Imagine coming from a sport where you need to get changed in sheds before the game to walking into the lexus centre!

Here's hoping Irish 2 is half as good as Irish!

Well done Kevin
I am really looking forward to seeing how he goes over the pre-season and how he adapts to the different ball and rules.
If he adapts half as good as Marty I will be stoked.
Good luck Kevin

Did anyone catch a glimpse of Irish V2.0 whilst he was trialing? I'd be interested to hear how he moved, whether or not he was similar to Irish V1.0 when he first arrived for a trial, or is he a different style of player?

Cheers in advance for any info

I think his trial has only just come to an end, so he'll now return home and decide whether he is prepared to commit to 2 years of Aussie Rules... which when you see Clarke's determination, really is the key ingredient for success.

I was talking to Kevin yesterday, he has not decided anything but will make a decision in the next two weeks. Really enjoyed his time over there and stressed howfriendly everyone at Collingwood was.

Thanks for the info mate, I'm glad to hear he found it to be a positive experience.

It's good that he hasn't made his mind up, he should take his time and be 100% certain one way or the other. :thumbsu:

Pies offer Irish deal

Emma Quayle | September 30, 2007

KEVIN Dyas, Collingwood's latest Irish experiment, has flown home to consider a two-year contract offer from the Magpies.

Dyas, a close friend of Marty Clarke, returned to County Armagh last Monday to contemplate a full-time move to Melbourne after a month working with assistant coaches Alan Richardson, Brad Scott and Blake Caracella.

Collingwood recruiting manager Derek Hine said the coaches had considered Dyas — a speedy 181-centimetre player who plays Gaelic football for Dromintee in the Armagh Senior League — more advanced than the prodigious Clarke had been during his first trial last year. "We've offered him a contract and it's all been positive so far, so we've asked him to go back home and talk it over with Mum and Dad. He hasn't got back to us to say one way or the other, but we're really confident he'll sign," said Hine.

"A few of the coaches have commented to me that he's a bit ahead of where Marty was at the same time, but they're pretty similar players. Hopefully he'll give us a call over the weekend or early next week, but we're feeling confident."

Collingwood, which found a 12-game debutant and a Rising Star nominee in Clarke only months after he first kicked an Australian football, will be able to pre-list Dyas as an international rookie should he accept the offer.

Any players from the Murray Bushrangers side look worthy of drafting???

Dawson Simpson is a 207cm ruckman, but has a lot of work left to do. He'll get looked at purely because of his height though.

Ben McEvoy will be drafted, likely top 5 IMHO.

I'm a big fan of Callan Ward, as his kicking is sublime off both feet and he's bottom aged which will appeal to Hine. Others have differing opinions of him however.

Yeah i can't see them getting rid of isle, i think they see him as a future player of the midfield his posession efficiency is high, at least give him another year to crack through the 22, another pre-season and his confidence should be well up..

Yeah i think egan is iffy?? high potential but is there a spot for him in our best 22? even when fit he wasn't consistent! he was a high draft pick tho,

Cox i think is a great prospect, too casual and not accountable his only flaw but i'd like to see him take wakes position next year... played ruck is his earlier days which is an added advantage so he's got athleticism just really want to see him take it on next year!!

WOuldn't collingwood be getting rid of Bryan before Richards at least richards gets a few taps last weekend 17 at least to bryans 8 or so, they'll give richards another year that was his first season without injury so he's still developing, but we need another ruckman thats for sure, although josh fraser is a quality player i see him as a second string ruckman that pushes forward, a very good quality second string ruckman that is,... we should target brisbanes ruck stocks they have a surplus of ruckman....

I was wondering the other day when hiney came on board as our recruiting manager....?? i was looking back through our draft picks and the year of 2003 was a bad year for draft picking,

billy morrison (17)
Brayden shaw 32
julian rowe,
although heath shaw was a good pick up at 48 and

2002 -
bo nixon 21,
luke shakleton 29
cameron cloke 43
david king 58
lokan 70

2001
richard cole 11
Tom davidson 27
mark mcgough - 47
dane swan (great pick) 58 -
tristen walker 72

I consider these 3 years a major downfall in our recruiting i mean look at 2002 not one of those guys are now playing for us!! now should be the point where those guys in 2002 are really standing up, ohwell im glad we are getting it VERY right atm...

Yeh there are some shockers there alright but it's tough when you finish runnerup like we did in 02-03. No flags and nearly all high draft picks.
This year wont be much different I feel unless Mr Hine can weave some magic again.

How does listing Dyas effect our other drafting...Does a club get special concessions for drating outside of Australia?

International rookies can be selected in the rookie draft (no other team can draft them except the one they signed with).

I think you can use the third round pick on them.
