What do we think Christian Petracca is worth in trade? Contracted for the rest of his career.

Now where does Judd McVee sit uncontracted and offered two years from Melbourne?

Feel like we've collectively forgot the tenor of fan reactions to Ed Langdon asking for a trade, half our fanbase was at "I would pay someone to take him".

Those fans were generally idiots. He finished 5th (2017) and 2nd (2018) in our fairest and best.

Not everyone has a laser kick, he chased, tackled, ran end to end to end blowing up his opposing wing and having huge metres gained.

Them loosing Petracca might bring pick 11 into it unfortunately as Adelaide have pick 14.

Would still hope the club says no and deals with Melbourne using the second and third rounders only.

14, F1 (2026), F1 (2027)
Unless the AFL decides in the next week or so Tasmania isn’t coming into the comp until 2029, 2027 F1s from top eight clubs will be treated like second rounders.

Can't see how we can start trade period in 2027 picks in play without clubs knowing what the concessions are. Surely we hear the AFL's plan this week.

Adelaide are reportedly bringing in Ah Chee as well. Not sure they have pieces to get the deal done.

The other team in play for Petracca is Gold Coast. They have plenty of pieces to get the deal done but potentially not if Curnow goes to GC. Going to be interesting trade period

That's even worse than someone on here saying pick 47 for McVee.

Tbf I don't think anyone has yet.
Ironically most trades end up being the exact middle of the extreme views of supporters involved in a trade (apart WC or North trades Eg Tim Kelly trade which was MORE than Geelong supporters exprected)

I think we'll end up giving our second and third rounders with McVee and Melbourne's owned Brisbane third rounder coming back. Melbourne could then combine their second rounder with those picks to move up the draft. Personally I wouldn't be disappointed if we gave up our second and third rounders for McVee alone but that's only because I rate what he adds to our team more than others here.

If we're staying at 36-6 again, I'm not sure if Brisbane's third really does much for us.

The way I see it atm:

Five senior list spots:
  • Draper upgrade
  • McVee
  • 3x draft picks*

* Bids past 40 don't require matching so if Whan will just get matched with our next pick whether that's pick 41 or pick 150.

Two rookie list spots:
  • 1x Rookie pick
  • pre-listed SSP

If we want to upgrade Sharp or Voss we delist Sturt and re-draft him as a rookie. Sturt to be replaced by a train on either way.

Anyway this all looks about what the club usually does list management wise. Don't hate your suggested trade even without the Brisbane 3rd.

Melbourne fans embarrassing themselves on Facebook demanding pick 11 and a second for McVee.

Is this kid the second coming of Gary Ablett Jnr?
I checked their McVee thread and they're upset enough about losing him, that I'm happy he's coming, but they don't expect anything substantial back after having a sideways year development wise and him being out of contract.

Going by their thread, he's not got any elite traits athletically, but is an afl standard defender on smalls, while being Melbourne's best user coming out of defense.

Not sure how reliable it is but on the true footy YouTube page but one of the fellas on there is a freo supporter and they said that the Sean Darcy to Essendon thing actually has legs as of recent. Take with a grain of salt obviously

Scale of trade cost expectations
  • Involving pick 11 in any meaningful way: "Why do you hate us Wallsy"
  • Pick 29 and change: "Fine, whatever,"
  • Pick 29 alone: "Finally some kind of backbone"
  • Less than pick 29 in any way: "Walls must have let Taylor negotiate."
