I'd be very surprised if anything eventuates from that though because no way we're backing ourselves with Jackson as the only ruck all year, and his exit meeting was centered around more midfield minutes. Seriously, Jackson get's injured and we're going into games with Riddle or some second league Reidy 2.0 that we pick up as our ruck.

They bring up that he plays "second fiddle" to Jackson but that's not necessarily the case, and his minutes only increase next year with a proper pre season. Apart from that I'm not sure he would want to go to a club that will be bottom of the ladder for a few years when he seems very settled here.

The 2 fellas on there from WA said they had an inside source that he might be looking to go. We will see what happens

Well I have an inside source that says Nick Daicos, Matt Rowell, and Sam Taylor all want to come here this trade period.

See how easy it is to say shit by qualifying it with having an inside source.

Ive been more pro on trading him than most on here but there are too many careers on the line for then to trade him without another best 22 player coming in the door. Would be very interesting if it becomes official

If your midfield is good enough you don't really need a very good ruck, Darcy Fort for example the last 2 years.

Id be excited if there is actually legs behind Darcy to Essendon because it means someone important is coming in the door
I'd thought all along (and still continue to think) they only trade Darcy if someone gives an irresponsible offer or we have something lined up to use the Darcy $$$ on. And then get anyone who's not Liam Reidy for ruck depth really. Mason Cox anyone?

But there's a 3rd possibility which you can hopefully dismiss but it's Freo so you never truly know. We've actually thought all along that we largely play our best footy with Jackson #1 ruck, but we have to play the game so we get a real offer. This season Darcy playing almost every game post-bye, the Jackson midfield stuff...all of that fugazi.

Nah give Darcy another year as a fully fit ruck and assess at the end of the season. It raises his value and we get a bigger sample size to see if the Jakco and Darcy combo works. He could be key to unlocking the Warner trade in 2027.

why did someone bring up Rachele a few pages back? Whats the rumour?
Might be key to unlocking petracca. Not us. But he’s the type we need.

Fremantle’s pitch to Judd McVee contained a very specific vision, but it wasn’t the most compelling part of the presentation.
The Dockers got him over the line by showing him how he was playing at the Demons.

Under Simon Goodwin and then caretaker Troy Chaplin he was pigeonholed as a last-line defender playing on footy’s dangerous smalls.

As the Dockers showed him, his disposals and intercept possessions had dropped off and he was barely a presence in the rebound game given his lack of handball receives.

They told him they could develop him like they had 2025 All Australian Jordan Clark as an attacking running back.

It's very odd isn't it.
Geelong should be completely out of the Curnow race, it shouldn't even be a talking point. The only way its a discussion is if there is players looking to leave, which has me terrified we plan on doing something very stupid with Humphries.

I should say this is separate to any potential Darcy trade because we can clearly pay for Humphries anyway.

Id say Swans are pushing it with what they have for Curnow as well so maybe there is someone leaving them thats gettable...

Hypothetically, which is what most of this thread is.

Essendon have pick 4,5 possibly 6 for Draper and possibly 8 from Hawks for Merret.

They also have no rucks. They could easily offer a great first round pick + change for Darcy.

Darcy to Essendon.
Warner to Freo
Curnow to Swans

Or imagine Geelong

Darcy to Essendon
Humphries and Mannagh to Freo
Curnow to Cats

Carlton could receive the currency Darcy provides + whatever else the buying teams uses.

As it does stand Geelong or Swans won’t lure Curnow away unless they get creative.
