Doesn't matter just make some up

It's better than the alternative of actually getting him and worrying about him all the time. And then either sitting him out of games due to concern or worse still putting him in positions during games to stop him being in the play
The answer to this is always "But they would never join unless we offer obscene money". You then say "6 year 900k to Starcevich is insane money too isnt it". At this point they throw a personal insult out and disappear

Agree to a point.. haha

Lock down defence is a position that we have good players already without taking this risk.

Who cares 'but they don't want to come and play for us'.. it's like we are just trading for the sake of it... complete loser mentality

I suppose where we see Starcevich playing would be a consideration.

He’s never been one to shirk a contest at all at HB. A bit like Gov in that respect, a bit too brave for his own good.

But if we see him through the midfield less likely to be involved in these type of collisions I can see why we might be inclined to take the gamble.

Some legitimate concerns, though. Are we locked in for the sole reason that he’s happy to come to us.

I reckon selling us at the moment would not be an enviable task. Not only due to the lack of wins, but also for the travel and longevity concerns that come with playing footy over here. How many do you see reach 34-35 for us or freo like they have at Geelong or Collingwood. Really not many. I think it’s something agents will be reminding players when they look at us. They want the pay day AND the chance of success and although we all know we will get back there someday it’s not a guarantee right now. A tough sell.

But for now; if Starcevich is signed off and wasn’t concussed yesterday- happy to take a gamble on a contract likely front ended anyway (ie money we have to spend). If there is one thing we have probably gotten good at lately is reading medical reports on concussions.

I will admit though, I’ve been a fan of his since the All Stars game on GF day in 2017 where he reminded me so much of Yeo. Kicked a goal from the boundary on his left that was so reminiscent of Yeo in his prime. I think he will be a terrific get.

Who do you think we should target?
Peter Ladhams
Jed Busslinger
Dev Robbo for a late late pick, or Hobbs (these are speculative picks, so no kitchen sinks need be involved). Just give one of these guys an extended run and see if they come good.

Starcevich is one knock away from retirement. 5+1 at 900k is the rumour. He's not worth that had he had 0 concussions. The deal has to be a bit better than that.

So you'd rather us target 3 spuds?

Over a bloke who's had 4 concussions in 14 months?

Yes, absolutely.

Anyone who says otherwise is a moron tbh. The amount of somersaults people are doing to justify this clearly bad idea is quite impressive.

Hopefully we have a good chat with Starc's management it's 3 years plus a trigger for another 2 after that. Would cover us if he did go down as the AFL cover only goes for the first 3 years of a contract. The money be all be the same.

Something like that would take some of the risk out of the move. If he really does want to come home I think he would agree to it.

If we offered that end of first pick for Buss, reckon they'd might accept.

Who do you think we should target? Is Starcevich the only player on the list?
There's a ton I think we should target.

Davies
Boxhall
Walter
Neale
Rivers
McKenzie
Garcia
Phillips
Steele
Dev
ZZ
Moir
Buss
Moyle
Viney

Who's to say or know who we have or haven't approached. I have no doubt we have put irons in the fire everywhere.

Throwin darts at the board to see where they land is all well and good provided we did that a year ago. Not much chance of turning heads in the next week if we haven't already had conversations.
