Might just be something in this. Aren't Peds & Kozzie old school mates?

Pickett would have been in the year ahead of him. Given they were both scholarship lads who came to the school for their final years of schooling they would have crossed over, but not spent a whole lot of time together (among commitments to SANFL clubs, state U18 squads etc)

I personally feel we will have to give up a player & 14 for Trac if it happens but it wont be anyone we drafted in the top 10 surely.

Taylor with a small extension might be a sign of a tactical move as steak knifes? Thoughts
Berry is probably the best one for both teams, replaces the need of Viney to continue to be the battering ram for them
Plus thats probably who's spot Trac would take in the 23

Feel like trading Pedlar would backfire on us in a similar way to the Lyons trade.
Could do, but Pedlar has had a fair while to establish himself in an average side and hasnt done so.

Lyons was behind a few when we were going well, as much as we shouldnt have traded him.

Anyone got the ability to read?

Just Pedlar or what trade radio and others were pushing with Rash, Pedlar and picks?

Fine with that but what's this Rash talk? Trade radio can GAGF. Rash is one of the very few gifted players we have who has the added arrogant swagger to go with it. A team that so meekly rolled over in finals can't afford to lose that. Sure, bolster the midfield but not at Rash's expense, Trade Radio you ****ers.

Lyons was behind a few because of poor selection though. We drafted Peds knowing it would take a couple of years for him to build a tank, but the fact we havent seen him or Rash in the midfield at all, despite both of them having decent stints in 2023, is another example of poor selection and game day management.

Imagine drafting two first round forward/mids and not playing either at any stage in a midfield that screams out for some x factor.

Yes but I don't trust that Nicks has any clue on how to develop a midfield and I'm willing to give Pedlar the benefit of the doubt.
I think we rate him pretty highly, as is evident by the fact we keep picking him despite not really showing a great deal in recent times.

Weve also got Ah Chee coming in to a forwardline and we HAVE to find a spot for Draper.

If we can get a guy like Petracca in and it costs us Pedlar, so be it.

To me, I have doubts whether Pedlar is ever going to reach the level I thought he would. If you throw Rachele into the middle more (we should) then theres even less space for a guy like Pedlar.

Tex was probably our best player against Collingwood, where did this idea come that he was poor in both finals? With the way the midfield got smashed against the Hawks, it was hardly a night for key forwards to dominate.

He had a good season (23rd in the Coleman) and if it weren’t for his age, no one would be questioning his spot in the team next year.

Stats can be misleading. The Hawks game is a good example, he was out marked for three quarters, the Hawks were behind so rolled the dice and Tex capitalised but it wasn't game changing.

Still even putting stats to one side, my worry 12 months ago which proved correct against the good opposition and when it counted was the forward line mix. In today's football you can't allow the good teams to exit the forward without the pressure. They just cut you up. The ' three headed monster' as they called it gets you goals but it costs you as well.

Reckon they just use him because he’s from there and he is around the quality mark. But I also think they’re overvaluing Petracca by not accounting for age, contract and recent injury. There is a chance that Melbourne want to pay most of his contract, maybe that’s the scenario they’re basing their views on.

More than that, they mentioned ‘more midfield opportunity’, surely that’s something we should be able to offer. Lyons was off a pretty good year playing mostly half forward, we just undervalued him badly.

I'm pretty lukewarm on the Petracca trade tbh. I get the logic. The club wants a proven gun midfielder so we can contend right now. I'm just traumatised by previous attempts like this backfiring horribly.

He wont at Adelaide under Nicks. If ever there were games where Peds should have had a rotation or two it was those finals games v Collingwood and Hawks. He's a clearance machine - in fact both he and Rash have a very high attendance to clearance ratio. 5 on the bench next year provides many options - for mine, one of those would be a three way rotation like a Rash -> Pedlar -> Peatling through the bench, half forward and mid.

Could also be a reason why we are looking at bringing in a kid like Stevens, pushing Pedlar out.

Having additional midfield rotations goes against club philosophy though.
