In thinking about the changes to the bid matching (assuming they come in as reported), i'm happy to take future picks for Ryan and Chesser.

Given the need to match with early picks now, they won't blow out, and in fact in some cases may even come in compared to this year. High F2's will also be potentially sought after for matching purposes of those attracting bids in mid/late first rounder.

I’d be ok with CARL and STK F2 for each of them provided we can prelist our NGAs next year otherwise they probably both go matching an early-mid 2R bid on Kenh.

If he's offered 4 years with triggers and get's ruled out in his first year, it costs us some money, which we have in spades.

He's worth taking a risk on.

You're the type who wants Dev and then crucifies the club when he turns out to be bad.
Dev over Starcevich is a dumb play.
I'd rather risk some coin on someone who can actually play than on someone who can't get a game.

Do you honestly, honestly need to have the difference between these 2 players pointed out? Seriously?

I'm not sure if you're intentionally choosing to overlook it, but i'll point it out again.

Devon will be a delisted free agent. He will cost absolutely nothing. Low cost, low risk. Free throw at the stumps.

Starcevich is going to cost us an end of first round draft pick. High cost, high risk.

Please read the above bolded bits and wrap your noodle around it so we don't need to keep having the same discussion over and over again.

It's not a case of who's the better player, it's a case of cost and risk.

Yep

Let's keep picking guys who can't get a game at other clubs.
It's worked really well for us before

Because picking up a guy who undisputedly has concussion issues immediately after McGovern was just medically retired on top of Sheppard and Venables is a much smarter idea.

"It's worked out really well for us before" 👍

Again, turn pick 2 into Cumming and Sharp and it’s happy days.
The lack of love for cumming is going to be a hindsight issue in 5yrs when they redo this draft.

It’s absolutely bizarre, he’s the best all round midfield prospect in the draft. Can’t see how the shoulder injury could have him so low.
Eagles have reached the below stage

"He has been concused 4 times in 14 months but I dont think its too big a issue, the club will take the risk"
"He hurt his shoulder. The club would be crazy to take that risk"

SEN
"West Coast said to have tabled a lucrative six-year deal to acquire the defender’s talents ahead of 2026."

Nine
"The Eagles appear to be in the box seat, and have reportedly offered him a lucrative six-year deal to join the club."

Herald Sun
"a six-year deal on the table from West Coast"

The West
"West Coast reportedly offer huge six-year deal"

Fox Sports
"reports the Eagles are offering a deal worth up to six seasons"

DT
"reported Starcevich has been offered a six-year deal, at least the last year of that contract would only be handed to him if he met a games-based trigger."

Whilst I have seen 1 report (from Reddit) that it is 4 years, the majority of news is reporting 6.
You have quoted me with confidence that I am wrong in relying on the majority of the reports out there.
Why are you so certain that it's not 6?
Just a consideration that many of those outlets quote each other (without giving credit). Fox, The Herald Sun, Code Sports have the same reporters. The West quotes directly from SEN interviews, etc.

Last high draftee we took with dodgy shoulders worked out ok.

Hopefully Starcevich takes the two year deal with Brisbane and gives his concussion time to declare itself.

Do we have awareness of what's being announced before Friday start of FA and when?

Ie, WC concessions, 2026 bidding rules and points discounts, Tasmania concessions, changes to club zones etc.

Are all these going to land in one announcement or staggered?

WCE-imminent. Concerning no mention publicly of being able to pre-list NGAs.

NGA-Port being told on Thursday about Cochrane, presume the NGA/zones/tas concessions released at the same time, one day before the trade period of this corrupt, inept joke of a competition.

If you're looking for clarity from the AFL, I've got bad news for you buddy.

The guys from Rookie me Central are frauds. They don't know their arses from the elbows.

1. Durrsma
2. CDT
3. Xavier Taylor
4. Robey
5. Sharp
10. Cumming
11. Lindsay
12. Greeves

  • No one is taking a KPD at 3. North were in dire need of a KPD and still didn't take Tauru.
  • They have Harry Dean at #7. If they don't call out Daicos, Ashcroft etc at #1, no club is calling Dean out at #7
  • Cumming, Lindsay, and Greeves all should go higher. Maybe one of them blows out.

Maybe they jag one thing they say, but they have an awful lot of improbabilities.

X Taylor is a rebounding defender who can play tall, he’s not a KPD and neither was Tauru and also have to remember this is rankings and not a phantom draft. The modern game sees higher value on HBFs like Taylor, who can also push further up the ground which Richmond will love.

I think Cumming goes higher but I do think Lindsay (one dimensional) and Greeves (poor defensive game, slow on spread) will have limitations at AFL level.

If the draft does pan out like this, 5,6 is an absolute sweet spot IMO.

Duursma has the performance and ceiling mix that has separated him from the pack - maybe not HR levels of ceiling, but as clear a #1 pick in 2025 as HR was in his year. If we get a Nth style joke offer for #1 then take the player.
There is so comparison between WD and HR. WD has only just edged into #1 ranked for the first time a few days ago. He wasn’t even been top 2 until recently if you include the academy boys. He wouldn’t go top 10 in any other draft. HR was identified as a generational talent years out from his draft year and maintained a huge gap to the next best, no one got close to being drafted ahead of him at any point.

Underrated get.

FWIW I know that he has said no to one of the other teams chasing him with the expectation that it's because he has chosen us.
