That's only because Melbourne are driving him to Gold Coast as they have players they want and the collateral they expect/can appease Melbourne fans.

Melbourne want Bailey Humphrey and San Flanders desperately and want to use Petracca as the main chip to acquire them.

If you're Melbourne it looks a lot better getting pick 6 and Flanders or a straight swap for Humphrey than Adelaide's offer of two late Firsts and maybe Sholl or Pedlar

Well, the Suns have said Humphrey is untouchable and it’s being reported that the Saints are very confident in landing Flanders given their 900k offer. In any case, do we think Petracca cares about what Melbourne get in return? If he wants to go somewhere, it sounds like they will get a deal done.

He is nearing 30. Does he have 30 good games left in him or 80? Have to be careful of a Gibbs situation version-2.
Atleast then they get a decent pick and good key defender to replace their aging KPD's. I reckon he fits in with our midfield better than GC's. Would he really fit in next to Rowell, and Anderson? They have plenty of gun talent coming through which would be better to give opportunity to and will need a lot of capital for so idk if I would do it if I was them. But ultimately will be who he requests trade to and if Melbourne want to hold onto him or not.

Then maybe Ah Chee for a future second?
Stevens for a 3rd or something of the likes?

You bring those 3 in, it's a really good off season and really raises our floor, and ceiling once again. Sprinkle in a few Haggis late pick specials. Hope some of these moves come off!

I don’t see a similar type to Laird at any of the contending sides. Neither would get a game at any of the preliminary finalists. They may be best 22 for us, but we’re not competing for flags whilst they’re both in the side.

Hinge is the immediate weak link IMO. He turns the ball over and makes poor decisions.

I hope we give Ryan a block of games in that role. Either that or pick Bond and free Max up.

Petracca has mentioned publicly how important ANB was as a teammate and player to allow him to play his best footy. Was also brought up last off season that he told Melbourne if their culture was better we wouldn’t be losing ANB. Hopefully we leaned on this relationship heavily yesterday.

If they’re mates, I wouldn’t assume that ANB is just filling him with pure positivity, he’d be providing a genuine view and answering questions honestly. As you posted, if we don’t make a prelim next year you’d be looking at changes to tts coaching group. ANB may have similar reservations about various aspects of our program.

This will shock, but what you hear players and staff say on TV/radio isn’t always reflective of their overall view.

The Dogs want the Suns to pay all of his 900K salary though, so it’s not really a side hustle.

It is because he’s going to be delisted and paid out, Suns won’t care either way and it won’t get in the way of them having the picks or cap for Trac. The likelihood they progress is slim to none, he’s not a focus or a big trade, they’re just working out how far gone he is.
