Was 2025 a success?

Huh? The question is how? What do we need to do to win?
Now I’m not going to go through the 68 things i think need to happen but the how is what matters
Well the question was, is 2025 a success an the answer has to be a resounding no.

In terms of what we need to do . Well that comes down to
Genuinely improving the squad either by developing or recruiting. It seems like the latter isn’t happening so it leaves the former

2025 a success? Um. No.

Nth Melb resembles Chernobyl after the US bombed it, for those of us young enough to remember.

No.
Bottom 2 is certainly not a success.
Players found. Hardeman, Comben, Pink, O’Sullivan, Stephens, McKercher are some positives.
If we can find a further 5 players in 2026 (Trembath?, Whitlock?, Dawson?, Payne?) and can climb out of the bottom 4, that would be a success.

Success would be someone fixing the title to “Was”

The girls won...
Our books balanced, we turned a small profit...
The Huddle remains viable and busy...
We appear fluffy and inclusive...

Current board and management glowingly agree...

felt like a step forward but then again most of us said 6 wins was a pass and we still didn’t reach that mark.

so was it a success?
Hmmm..

↔️= undecided ❌ = Fail ✅= Pass

Expected 8 wins min., delivered 5 1/2.❌
Expected finish 13th to 16th, delivered 16th finish↔️
Recruitment of Parker ✅
Recruitment of Darling ✅
Recruitment of Konstanty ✅
Recruitment of Daniel ❌
Drafting of FOS ✅
Drafting of M.Whitlock↔️
Impact of MSD recruit(s)✅
Overall improvement of key talent(s) ↔️
Forward transition improvement❌
Defensive Stability❌
Stay competitive in games✅
Tactical/Coaching improvement ❌
Finish the season strongly ❌

Overall:
2025 season showed some improvements but it has to be a failed season as we only incrementally improved in ladder position, we stayed competitive in most games but we failed to finish the season with any conviction that we'll strongly move up the ladder in 2026 - the biggest concern is defensive stability and whilst we can put the blower at the individuals in those positions, the coaches need to the ones held to account because they are the ones designing the system that these players have to play too and, as we've all seen it, defensive transition (and offensive) is a shamble.
