That’s gotta drive the asking price down. Changes the narrative from “he’s a contracted and required player” to salary dump. Thanks Christian!
I genuinely believe the Crows will end up being the most attractive trading partner for the MFC, not because of what we can trade, but for how much salary relief we can offer!

So he just chats to Hardwick on the phone (notice how Morris is no longer saying ‘multiple chats’) and does a whole day trip to Adelaide for a medical and tour of the club? If this involved 2 others clubs without any bias and I had to make my best guess, I’m going with the city and club he actually visited

I don't think anyone wants to lose Butts. But he is out of contract next year and going to get offered 5 year deals (as he deserves). It's best for everyone to let him go this year or we risk getting very little for him.
Maybe, but he would only be 26 at the end of next year, a RFA, and if you are correct, be offered long term deals that we could still match (which would probably add more money to the deal from potentially a few different suitors).

Seems like all the herbs and spices of FA compo formula could line up for maximum returns on Butts.

I doubt there are many at Melbourne or amongst there supporters who think him remaining at the club on over a million dollars for the next four year is best for them.

That's why I laugh at the whole charade about it needing to be a big offer for them to turn their heads. They are as invested in getting him out the door at the right price as we are in getting him in.

The issue is the players you mentioned would be good in a couple of years, but we are about to load up on Petracca if he agrees and we are going into with an unco who now has his 3 years and the AFL are about to change the rules to **** him completely.

We should have always had a developing ruck on our list and we could have used any number of picks on one, pick wisely and they’d be ready to take over now.

But what I’m surprised at was I thought it was easy to get a ruck cheap.

Could McAndrew be the answer? I don't know much about him aside the fact that he's almost 7 foot tall and dominated the SANFL this season for hit outs.

The rule change might actually work in his favour? I don't know anything about his mobility around the ground though so I suspect that might be the drawback with him.

Im pretty sure that the AFL and the media wont allow Petracca to come to the Crows.. they are pushing him to the Suns. As if we will land him lol

I agree with you, I legit trust no rumours on Twitter.
Except this poster tends to actually get some things right. Still not gospel but the only Twitter account I follow re rumours except for media:

Honestly this scenario re Butts has been mentioned by plenty of people with no mail. You don't need to be Einstein to work out with Melbourne giving Steven May his marching orders Melbourne would have serious interest in Jordan Butts if Petracca was to nominate Adelaide.

Petracca will play where he wants to. If that happens to be the Suns, so be it.

Some of us are really starting to sound like Richmond fans with these supposed Anti-Crow AFL conspiracy theories.

For those unaware what I'm referring to, there's a section of Richmond fans who think Hocking brought in rules like the stand and 6-6-6 to stop Richmond from dominating, and that the league is out to get them.
