Kinda feel like Sydney are a little too quiet right now. Surely they have more up their sleeve then Malcolm Rosas.
Sydney love trading in key forwards. They’re crying out for one since Franklin left.

Curnow and Allan obviously the ones on the market, but maybe a shock like Ben King (thus GC interested in Curnow and JUH)?

The thing I don't understand is, doesn't Gold Coast have salary cap issues? How could they afford Trac? Imo I think the Vic media are just trying to steer him away from us, or make us pay up.
I know Trac would help GC, but their midfield versus ours is chalk and cheese. It makes much more sense for them to throw their assets at Curnow or JUH, whereas we desperately need an A grade mid. Part of our pitch would be come here and become our star midfielder, whereas GC’s would be come here and become our our 4th best midfielder behind Rowell, Anderson and Miller.

SYD are a bit like us ....not a lot of public grandstanding

Now ESS and St Kilda ....that's an entirely different story

We were the number one scoring team from F50 stoppages in the 2nd half of the season when Rankine became more of a forward again, so what you're saying simply isn't true. Tex was roaming up to the wing plenty of times this year as the connector from half back, which is deadly given his kicking ability. He's never going to be the pressure forward and never has been, his importance comes from strong leads and ability to score from anywhere within 55m of goal. Rankine, Keays and ANB are there for the forward half pressure (and now Ah Chee as well).

Even without Rankine, he had 18 touches, 9 marks, 7 score involvements and kicks 2.3 (should have been 4+) against the Pies. He is not cooked, way too many people just believing Kornes' lazy narrative about our 3 talls not working (despite kicking 140 goals between them).
Not sure what scores from stoppage has to do with us getting killed by opposition exiting.

I don't listen to Kane, I watched every game. The opposition uses Walkers opponent to exit because it's easy. They create an easy overlap against us. Plenty of games we were saved by our defence holding up against this.

Scores from stoppage is related to forward pressure, which is fine when we have our elite small forwards in there. It's got nothing to do with Tex and never has. Weird that you ignored his final against Collingwood, I guess that doesn't suit your narrative.

I think a mid 20's y/o player is happy to carry the #1 mantle in the midfield.
I'm not sure a 30 y/o is happy to be burdened with that pressure.

I think Trac likes the fwd/ mid rotation which he will get at GC
At the Crows in will mainly be mid with a bit up forward

It's going to be interesting what decision he makes.
I wouldn't be happy paying $1.2m for a HFF

I really dont think we'll be playing Tex more than we played Smith, probably less.

Well you answered your own question. You wouldnt be paying 1.2 for a half forward, and I dont think he'll care too much about being the main man.

There's been plenty, but they're largely individual player related. I think the same philosophies that saw us continually fall short at finals time are still entrenched, so at a club level there hasn't been much to be optimistic about except removal of incompetent staff/board members. That said, I still have hope that Balme will ultimately influence a change in some of the strongly held philosophies that fail us senior coach after senior coach after senior coach.
Exhibit A, Tex playing on for another year again

It's like what we saw with Thommo, Jacobs, Sloane

The club just cant do the right thing for the club
We seem weak to make the correct decision with our old stars

Scores from stoppage is related to Rankine being a gun stoppage player. Obviously it has nothing to do with Tex which is what I said.
I don't have a narrative, it's obvious when watching games. I'd have to rematch some, but from memory Darcy Moore took plenty of intercept marks while on him.

I think what you're saying makes a lot of sense, especially the way that Garry Lyon has been acting.

"You can't go out of your way to woo a guy to your club and then turn around and not be prepared to put a decent offer to Melbourne"

Sounds like we've possibly offered something along the lines of Pick 14 and a player ie Butts or Pedlar and he's pushing the narrative that Adelaide needs to offer more.

I don't get why so much emotion is involved. We look at the player and make a determination on what we think we will pay in terms of draft picks. We provide that to the player's agent and it's up to them whether they risk the player being spotted at adelaide airport with missus and themselves. We have no control over what the other club does, if they make unreasonable demands then that's on them, not us.

It's supporter emotion .....buyer & seller, having supporters feel their club is a) doing everything to improve b) driving hard bargains

Just look at this thread, which every Club board has the equal of ......and every supporter thinking the other Clubs supports are bat shit crazy

Not many clubs do, especially not ones at the pointy end of the ladder.

You just know he is going to go the Suns right? A mid-field of Rowell, Anderson and Petrecca..with Elliott and King in the forward line, is going to be incredibly hard to stop...
