With the Trac visit to the GCS facility incoming, I was curious about what their home base was actually like. What I could find was an article from 2017 about their $22M facility turning them into a professional club. I couldn't see anything about any notable improvements since then online.

I wonder how that will compare to our 2027 facility with the hefty budget of $105M for Brand Petracca.

Scores from stoppage is related to Rankine being a gun stoppage player. Obviously it has nothing to do with Tex which is what I said.
I don't have a narrative, it's obvious when watching games. I'd have to rematch some, but from memory Darcy Moore took plenty of intercept marks while on him.
Tex has never been the 1 on 1 marking guy, it's what we have Thilthorpe for. He's always been an average contested mark. What he's elite at (and still is) is leading up at the ball by either reading it better than his opponent, or elite ball movement up the field.

We made Frampton look like an elite defender in that first final with our delivery to the forwards, doesn't mean Thilthorpe is cooked.

To add to that, Tex is still the primary target in our forward entries. We haven't adjusted for his decreased ability to compete for ball that's not directed near perfectly. Anything requiring a change of movement is an easy turnover and pressureless rebound for the opposition. And yet time after time, we keep targetting Tex. Fog is all but ignored and TT gets the high dump kicks. And it's not an accident, that's our forward strategy, TT's the dump guy, Tex is the target and everyone else is a decoy. Every now and again that's not available and we try and hit someone else up on a lead, but that's not the design, we don't have a bunch of dangerous forwards creating one on one options and selecting the best, we look for Tex or dump to TT.

It's supporter emotion .....buyer & seller, having supporters feel their club is a) doing everything to improve b) driving hard bargains

Just look at this thread, which every Club board has the equal of ......and every supporter thinking the other Clubs supports are bat shit crazy

I was responding to a post that was loosely quoting Garry Lyon.

You just know he is going to go the Suns right? A mid-field of Rowell, Anderson and Petrecca..with Elliott and King in the forward line, is going to be incredibly hard to stop...

They ****ing played Laird in there in the finals.

Swap Laird and Berry for Petracca and Rankine and ours with Petracca, Dawson and Rankine is looking better. With Draper and Curtin to come.

Was an act of desperation .....the Coaches knew they had a big issue

Until you look at the Lions midfield - W Ashcroft, L Ashcroft, L Neale, H McLuggage, Annable (top 5 draft pick mid this year), Z Bailey. Kicking to Oscar Allen, Charlie Cameron, Lohman, Morris......
You've missed inside/outside mid Sam Marshall in that midfield who is going to be a very good player for a very long time.

I don't get why so much emotion is involved. We look at the player and make a determination on what we think we will pay in terms of draft picks. We provide that to the player's agent and it's up to them whether they risk the player being spotted at adelaide airport with missus and themselves. We have no control over what the other club does, if they make unreasonable demands then that's on them, not us.

Garry Lyon is obviously emotionally invested with Melbourne as a supporter and I'm guessing is trying to use his position to drive a narrative over Petracca's trade value.

To me it reeks of sour grapes from Lyon.

Jaspa Fletcher also once he starts getting midfield minutes.

It doesn't appear to be a hard choice.
Hopefully there are other factors to be considered

If Trac wants to soak up on rays on the Gold Coast and play for an expansion club in front of 10-15k a week in a non-footy state cruising through a mid/forward rotation at his age then no worries. Good luck to him - wouldn’t want to pay huge amounts of salary and trade collateral if he’s committed to that mindset. Also good luck with JUH….

Hopefully he’s the consummate professional and winner that everyone says he is and wants to play for a big club in a big footy state. I think ANB, and to a lesser extent Burgo (even though he’s going), will be huge in convincing him that the AFC are what he wants. The food/wine opportunities for his off-field brand will be huge in Adelaide as well.
