Its amusing that we're all (me included) so thrilled and relieved to not LOSE a player, even though it doesn't actually make us any better next year than we were this year. We'll all likely feel similar relief if/when its confirmed that Bobby Hill isn't leaving.

I wonder what (if anything) we might ultimately announce that genuinely improves us in 2026? So far it seems that we're not very interested in anyone and nobody's especially interested in coming to us either.

Dare we hope for news of a big surprise recruit, or are we going to be minor players in this trade/draft period?
It’s quite clear our position. We don’t have any picks or players with value to bring any in. Bring in a couple of the kids linked to us, couple of cheap additions in Buller and maybe May. Expecting big additions is unrealistic given we haven’t got anything to trade with. We also don’t have the luxury of Brisbane or gold coast’s never ending academy gravy train. Posting the same thing over and over won’t change that.

As difficult as it is for me to normally do, I look at it a little more glass half full

I reckon our improvement comes two fold

1) Let’s look at the inclusions. Bobby and Jordy are - for all intents and purposes, new recruits next year. Buller makes us younger and taller in the forward line. May makes the already best defence in the comp even better (assuming we get him). Beau will spend more time in the middle as well as hopefully less time injured. This also makes it our midfield a bit stronger

2) Hopefully our depth players won’t be injured next year. Harrison, Reef, West et al all hopefully remain injury free and push from underneath which should also push the seniors a bit harder

Losing Elliott would have made us worse.
Retaining Hill and getting back to full fitness improves us.
Losing Checkers hurts.

We do need another decent mid. Hopefully something unexpected happens on that front.

All valid points.

I have heard Hill is keen to move higher up the ground and be more involved next year. Obviously would have to get fitter

Last season we had two players wanting out that had some currency and we were open to trading our future first. This season with Hill likely staying theres nobody with with any trade currency and it doesn’t look like we want to touch our future first. Don’t think it’s coincidental that the two players we are linked to in Buller and May won’t cost any capital.

Might want to batten down the hatches jmac, theres going to be some trade melts on here. Even though everyone knows what’s coming

Standard grain of salt, but still

It's sounds like this person might be hearing we're gonna have a crack at JUH?

Ugle-Hagan met with Suns officials on Wednesday, with the Suns looming as his best chance to be on an AFL list in 2026 after positive discussions.

I'm not too much into listening to rumour, unless its a credible source, but since following B & W United, l must admit he does get some pretty good news.....

I only saw him post about Jamie re-signing and while it's obviously a 50/50 shot of being right, he posted in a way that made it seem he had some info. Knew it would be within 48 hours of his post too. Also mentioned Checkers all but gone. Which we also expect.

Also have to wonder if Bobby's "2026 is gonna be fun" was possibly allluding to JUH coming?

Gee that's a steep price.
Fairly sure he deserves it, and let’s be real here, he’s on the same money as McStay and a far more productive player.

$650k is a number I’m perfectly comfortable with tbh, borderline bargain.
