Gettable saying Worpel is still expected to come to Cats on a 4 year deal. Hawks bnf on Saturday so expected to announce a decision after then.

Nothing really new on the Marshall or Curnow fronts, just that GC is prioritizing Elliot and Trac. So probably leaves it as Swans or bust for him (Curnow).

What I have heard dogs in dissaray. Beveridge was pushing for Wilkie and Sam Power wanted nothing to do with it. Money offered and discussed by Beverage was not even agreed to by the higher ups. He went out on his own.

What an amateurish organisation
Sam Power comes out of that looking worse.
At least Beveridge has identified their achilles heal.

Elliott sticks with Collingwood.

This would seem bit of a jump from the $400k per season they were reportedly offering Elliott not that long ago

"The Age reports Elliott, an unrestricted free agent, has recommitted to the Magpies on a new two-year deal worth at least $650,000 per season."

And he's another to turn down Carlton after they very recently threw their hat in the ring for him

Holmes
Dempsey
Cameron
Stewart
Blitz
Miers
Osullivan
Jack henry
Plus Atkins for culture
(And realistically smith isnt moving)

Realistically just about everyone else is tradeable for the right price but very few would move as we dont push players out.
Miers untouchable??
If someone offered us a very good deal for miers, I would have a serious think.

He has his strengths, but also his weaknesses and is limited in areas.

His up for sale for a good price imo

I think he's pretty untouchable. Grew up in Torquay and is pretty settled. I get where you are coming from though, we could afford to lose one of those hybrid small forward/mids.

Mannagh to me seems most likely as had had a late start to his AFL career and probably only has on big contract.

I would prefer mannagh, really rate his ability as a midfielder and his spread. Also good defensively

Agreed.

I see him as the glue that links so many other players together.
Short of getting Butters, or an elite young key forward like Cadman, don't even pick up the phone IMO.

We take him for granted. He's not perfect, but we are so rarely 'on' if he's not on. Especially now that he's shown he's added more midfield/contested ability to his game.

Was particularly noticeable in that Carlton game when he was out with concussion. Our F50 delivery and work in transition was god awful.

It was like watching...well...Carlton

Yep, he doesn't conform to 'normal' and he isn't perfect (who is??) but he has great vision and brings so many others into the game that he's untouchable for mine.

Did you see how poorly we performed when he was out with concussion and working his way back into the game afterwards?

It's a moot point anyway because Miers would never request a trade - but getting rid of one of the best players delivering inside 50 in the league would be Carlton-level stupid.

Didn't Miers grow up a Lion's fan... Miers <-> Ashcroft 🤔

It's hard to say - it may be a move from a performance based contract to more of a fixed price contract.

I don’t rate him as highly as others on here. Great kick I50 and high endurance style player, but poor defensively, slow, not a strong contested body, can get burnt on transition, and is a poor contested mark.

His very good at what he does well, but let’s not pretend he doesn’t have limitations either. His not overall a complete package.

Chris Scott has just created a role for him that has maximized what he is very good at.

If he played for north Melbourne, he would be getting slaughtered

All players have limitations.

No player is a complete package.

He brings a skill to our team that others can't replicate.
