Has there been anymore chatter about WC and Ah Chee?
I suspect Petracca gets to ADE and makes the Ah Chee trade more challenging.
Just in Pyke's interview this morning with Duff he mentioned we were after 22-28yo players specifically to help our young team develop.
Interesting Ah Chee is almost 28 and we were keen not so long ago?

Robey is recency bias / fomo imo. I don’t think we should take the risk on him.

The more I think about it the more I’m content staying still on our draft position, unless a godfather offer comes. And maybe using one of our consecutive picks to move up a bit.

Chances are a decent slider will drop to 15 (excluding academy etc). Our current draft hand is already an excellent one, no need to over complicate this.

Then we hold onto later picks and let the draft unfold, if we get to our later picks and our nga /fs still haven’t been bid on then trade the picks to 2026.

Would love to get him. Absolute gun but very highly regarded at GCS, obviously a local boy and is best 22 when fit. GCS would demand the world for him and can’t see him wanting to leave on the cusp of a window playing with his mates he’s coming through the juniors alongside.

Just further to this:

Outstanding young man, has dealt with some adversity this year and the type of kid you want at your football club. The Suns really are going to be a force in a few years.

Ah chee wont be a hard trade for crows to pull off, regardless of petracca. A F2 for him and a F3 prob gets it done.

Woweee. Duursmas thing is gathering steam.

Guys William Duursma is not that guy. Stop trying to position him at Harleys level....

With that in mind on norf board they said Xavier was trying to pull Zane to dons. But norf put his foot down. But Zane is open to it. Zane the vic one....

Seriously you don't need to be blind to see Xavier pull that shit on William... we could lose both Harley and William 2027 all in one trade peroid. Yaz and Harley have started rekindling. It will lessen the blowback if they leave together

Abort this duursma mess now. William is not the guy. Zane a Victorian is looking to leave for another Victorian club. I mean come on

Why I liked him haha
Surely a few are going to slip out of that midfield in the next couple of years and we should be sniffing around. Looks like it starts with Flanders this year

Cool

Dursma and CDT. And we've addressed nothing in the midfield at the coalface.

That's an utter disaster
Duursma will be a midfielder

Again this obsession with thinking all our midfield needs is a contested bull is so outdated, those archetypes are a lot easier to find for much cheaper nowadays.

We will no doubt trade up into the top 10 and grab another midfielder as well.

You take best available at 1 and 2, you don’t draft on needs otherwise you end up with some of the worst draft decisions in AFL history.

I do not believe we will draft CDT too undersized and will take 3 seasons to get a game
His forward work is not good enough to play as a permanent forward.
CDT will play immediately, the new ruck rules make archetypes like him even more sought after too.

I wasn’t keen at all on CDT but I’ve changed my tune, watch his last two games, every single action that he was involved in was positive.

Sorry if this was already posted.

Don Pyke:
On the type of player the Eagles will look to draft:
“Our midfield is an area we’re looking to fill. We expect further growth in Harley (Reid), we’re hopeful we get (Elliot) Yeo back playing consistently, Tim Kelly we saw at the end of the year is still a very good AFL player.
“But we want to add some more guys through there it’s just a matter of the currency you’ve got to pay to get them in.
“If it is Picks 1 and 2 we can get a high-quality midfielder or two in there which sets us up for the next wave.”

I hope this is true and might mean CDT is off the table. Time will tell.

Around the ground he is great, after losing the ruck knock follows up extremely well
At ruck contests gets mauled though get pushed around in the CTL will only get worst at AFL level
His hitout to advantage is really poor

I also don't think the new ruck rules will help him he is undersized ruck at 200cm the average ruck is 203cm
in the AFL
His forward work is poor though we have better forwards on the list already so cant see him playing immediately

Rubbish.

Firstly he bearly jumps and wins hitouts.

Secondly the new ruck rules guarantee at centre throw ups a clear 50/50 that will see a premium on rucks who can jump

Thirdly the insufficient intent with every possession inside the arcs will, as per several commentators, only result in 2-4 less boundary throw ins a game. What it will do though is guarantee that the quick kick taken down the line inside 50 will need a tall good overhead mark.

He isn't tall enough and it's questionable how good his running vertical is.

Listened to the pod and it was great a fan finally asked the question to Duff who finally out it to Pyke. Midfield is key and we really haven’t added to it like we should’ve over the last few years.

That quote does say if we have picks 1 and 2 we might get in a midfielder or 2. Doubt it means CDT is off if we see him as the 2nd best talent but out next pick after those first two might have some midfield focus.

Yep west coast will grab DEV to put in the midfield

HOLY HELL. The Duursma Conspiracy™ is officially OUT OF CONTROL.

Listen up because I’m sick of saying it: WILLIAM. DUURSMA. IS. NOT. HIM. Stop trying to jam him into Harley’s tier like it’s even in the same postcode.

And now the whispers get worse — over on the Norf board they’re melting down saying Xavier was literally trying to drag Zane into the Dons HQ under cover of darkness. NORF apparently slammed the gates shut, BUT word is Zane is sniffing around. Yes, ZANE. The VIC one.

Open your eyes, people. It’s plain as day. Xavier already running his sneaky puppet strings on William, and if this plays out we’re staring down the barrel of losing HARLEY AND WILLIAM in the same trade period. 2027 could be a full-blown extinction event. Imagine Yaz and Harley waltzing off hand-in-hand like it’s a rom-com subplot, just to soften the outrage when the knives come out.

THIS IS FOOTBALL ARMAGEDDON. Abort the Duursma saga IMMEDIATELY. He’s not the saviour, he’s not the messiah, he’s not even the understudy. And Zane? Already eyeing a cushy Victorian gig.

WAKE UP. This is how dynasties collapse.
