Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

WCE will have 1,2,17,21,25,40. In a weak draft why would you trade pick 2 down to pick 10 and 11 when you could trade pick 17, 21, and 40 with GC for pick 7. 1,2,7 and 25 is a very strong hand in a weak draft and clubs can’t really develop more than 4 18 year olds at a time. Even if they decide to trade 25 for starsovich (crazy overs) that’s still 3 elite picks in this draft.
I think WCE would be much more interested in trading their F1 for 2 or 3 F1’s next year.
If Sydney can turn 11 into a F1 maybe WCE trade their F1 for that F1 plus Sydneys F1 plus our F2 plus Gov.
Sydney out 11, F1, Hayward in Charlie
WCE out F1 in F1sydney, F1 Collingwood(eg) F2 Carlton
Carlton out Charlie, F2 in F1 WCE Hayward
It doesn’t seam we get a lot out of this but that WCE F1 is going to be very high and may even get us a pick before Cody next year. Hayward is a sold B grader.

I just don’t see Graham Wright accepting picks 9, future first and some fringe players like Florent, Rowbottom or Campbell for Charlie. I think that would be a horrible deal for us.
Agree - any picks after top 10 are speculative - as we've found out previously, even at 3 some can be a bust.

Picks & steak knives just aren’t enough.

What do we really want to achieve during the trade period? Do we want to bring in a ‘star’? Or are we better placed bringing in more picks to get Dean and Ison done, trade in Khamis, Chesser and Reidy and another F1 for Cody in 2026? Getting picks and a ‘star’ will be challenging.

Especially considering Tassie will chew up picks in 2027 and 2028, perhaps the time is NOW (2025 and 2026) to hit the draft.

Won’t appease many, but it may be the better and more appropriate option for us longer term.

Why would WC trade pick 2 and Chesser for Sydney's F1 and McGovern/Acres? If they want McGovern, they can take him as a delisted player for zero?
As for Sydney's F1, put Charlie in their team and that pick could end up pick 20 next year with NGA's, F/S etc. Farcically lopsided deal that they'd never consider.
Our challenge this trade period should be securing the picks to get Cody Walker next year whilst retaining KP integrity if Charlie goes. Especially if the AFL proceed with the ridiculous decision of making up the points with 2 picks. The club should push back hard on that one. The restrictions should be making up the points with picks in the same round as a worse case scenario. If we can match the points with 3 firsts, that should be sufficient. As for list balance, we cant go into 2026 with Weiters and Harry as our only true KP players. If Charlie goes, a replacement key has to be part of the trade period.

In an ideal world we'd get a star player to replace Curnow but who would want to leave a strong club to come to a middling club with a coach on the verge of being sacked mid season if we have a slow start?

The priority for us is bringing in durable, depth/role players, high end talent via the draft by getting that pick 2 and securing another future 1st for Cody next year.

I wouldn't even be disappointed if we got a 2027 1st for additional flexibility next year to trade back in. A club might be more willing to do a trade of that nature. Who knows.

Tell us who would select Dean and why. Twomey has proven the only Carlton info he ever gets about us is from the opposition, he just regurgitates what the player managers tell him.

Eagles and Tigers are too high in the draft to select him and also have adequate coverage in the position, Essendon has enough tall defensive cover and they're desperate for midfielders and flankers.

Saints likely won't have the pick but even still, they've got Wilkie, SOS, Aleer, Tauru etc

Hawks have enough tall defenders.

So assume Uwland, Patterson, Annable go top 6 that pushes the Sydney pick to 11 and the most likely Dogs to 13.
WCE have just taken RFC’s KPD in T.Young, so addition to one but down a KPD for another (though currently too high you’d think as we currently stand).

Surely no club trades for Jamarra.

The bloke has taken the absolute ****ing piss this year. Absurd that the dogs have had to pay him when he hasn't lived up to any part of his side of his contract this year.

Cant beleive any club would even look at him. He's taking up a list spot that a hungry young kid who will appreciate the opportunity would grab with both hands.

Agree but sometimes 2nd chances make a difference.

hopefully he’ll be another one that cleans up his act.

Sure the club has L.Young & HOK as players that are classed as KPP.

Then HOF & Dean for the future.

There may be switch to more mobile talls. Sam Darcy is about the only giant out there. Mason Cox as a cameo AFL player, though resting rucks may be more of a thing (if not off the bench).

Club has made it quite clear that they're targeting an A-grade talent in return for Charlie.

None of those guys are A-graders.

They need to find a way to facilitate a trade to get us what our club perceives to be an A-grader.

Charlie is not a player you settle on a trade for.
Is Rachele an A-grader or does he have enough potential in a position of need to open up the trade for CC? Has previously been linked to Carlton and would make others on our list better.

Would Hayward to Adel for Rachele be something Adel would look at? Hayward is reliable, accurate and different to what the Adel forward line has.

CC for Rachele, McInerney, 2xF1s is my best case trade (even if is cost the TDK pick for later picks this year).

IMO we tell Sydney it’s not just their 2025 and 2026 1sts, it’s also their 2027 1st. We would need to send them a few 3rds or even a 2nd, but to set ourselves up really well (especially to guarantee we get Cody) and allow flexibility to trade for pieces we need across the next couple of years, I think all 3 of the 1sts is a huge part of the deal.

There is a reason 2 seasons of future trading has been brought in and we may as well take full advantage of it.

No point getting a 2027 first with Tasmania coming in and owning half the first round picks

3x1st rounders for Charlie?

From how wright has spoken in the past.
I’d say one eye will be on having the required picks available to secure Cody.
And everything else will be trying to bring in as good established players as we can. Imo
And also making sure we can secure dean.

Each club will still take picks in the 2027 draft and although TAS will have a huge amount of picks, I still believe having an extra 1st helps us. We either trade it for talent or if we have a fs or zone kid coming to us, it will help immensely.

Of course it’s not ideal, but we can’t just assume another 1st won’t help us

Sydney ‘25, ‘26 and ‘27 first + Hayward for Charlie, ‘26 3rd, ‘27 2nd/3rd

Can do a deal for Florent separately once we’ve moved all of the other pieces around but agree it gives us great flexibility.

Would then go to the Bombers with our ‘27 1st and Sydney’s ‘27 1st for theirs next year. They are going to need all the 1st round picks they can get for Bewick after the Tassie concessions were announced.

Gives us Pick 9 and TDK compo to trade up this year and 3 x firsts next year (Ours, Swans, Bombers) to attack the draft/trade.

Yep. The extra 2027 pick potentially can be sent to * this year for their 2026 1st to help get Cody.

Time to be creative

I like it but are we sure Sydney can trade out their first round picks three years in a row?
