Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

IMO.. The benefit of giving JUH a chance of a fresh start (has potential to be a top 10 player in the league) outweighs the risks.

Put clauses in his contract, around training and off field standards. Which give a club an out, if he fails to meet them.

If JUH is ready to turn his life around, he would have been a great (free) Curnow replacement.

Since “Fev” Carlton aren’t brave enough to back ourselves in. Hollands a prime example, would rather just get rid of him than do the hard yard and help him.

Good on the suns for potentially giving him a chance at redemption.

If he was ready to turn his life around, he wouldnt have got kicked out of the country GF that he got kicked out of two weeks ago. He's taking the piss.

IMO we tell Sydney it’s not just their 2025 and 2026 1sts, it’s also their 2027 1st. We would need to send them a few 3rds or even a 2nd, but to set ourselves up really well (especially to guarantee we get Cody) and allow flexibility to trade for pieces we need across the next couple of years, I think all 3 of the 1sts is a huge part of the deal.

There is a reason 2 seasons of future trading has been brought in and we may as well take full advantage of it.
more than happy to have as many future firsts as possible, especially if we arent happy with some of the players they are offering

Im also keen to judge the trade on whatever else we do with what we get for Charlie (if we do trade him)

We may be underwhelmed by what we get from any trade but if we can turn what we receive into something else then Id be happy with that

MY subjective opinion/vibe/feel is -

1. That old adage, 'a bad workman blames his tools' is alive and well at our club.

You could substitute, bad coaches blame their players.

2. Sour grapism is alive and well.
Player x, y or z are leaving. Therefore player x, y or z are shithouse/sook/never get on the park/ will never recover their injury proneness etc. Etc, et- cetera....

3. Shuffling deckchairs on the Titanic.

Shuffle out assistant coach/player hacks and shuffle in top-up with new hacks.

4. Consistently behind the pack in innovation, clever picks, attracting quality, and coaching plan.
Self evident.
If we were a club getting things right on field, and had a program that meant players could flourish, and want to play for each other...not afraid of failing --encouraged to dare...

We do not. We have self-preservation and blaming players. We and Essendon and Melbourne have all failed to transition.

We are a snobby, foolish club with selfish, rich gits fighting for control, locked in the past - apologists - and elitists.
Management blames workers so their own jobs are safe.
Workers ( players) are not listened to. They are labelled as impertinent and sacked or encouraged to move on.
Those that want to move on, have valuable intel that may be the key to our club turning things around.

But are we listening?

Who are we?

I get that I'm in a small minority and that's ok.

I'll keep a little light of hope under a bell jar for 2026.

Am I in despair and envious of those teams that get it right?

Yep.

If we have an atmosphere and program that breeds selfishness instead of team spirit,
Then that is on US.
I think we’ve tried your way before. Many times. Sack the coach. The players control the decision and choose when to play and when to not play. Sounds very familiar.

It’s time to try this different approach. Keep the coach. Build back up and get rid of the players that are pick and choose when they perform or aren’t prepared to put in the work.

So in saying that I totally disagree with your statement.

Florent has talent and is a solid role player. Cant judge this year, even their stars had shockers.
2x1sts + Florent + another role player would be enough.

We get the extra first for Cody next year, and we end up with 10, 11 and 20 this year after compo.
Wonder if 10, 11, 20 + Gov could net us pick 2, 22 and Chesser.
Gets us ahead of a Dean bid.
I think it would be cleaner to have the Swans trade their two first rounders plus McDonald to the Eagles for Pick 2 and they send us that Pick 2 plus Florent.

Each club will still take picks in the 2027 draft and although TAS will have a huge amount of picks, I still believe having an extra 1st helps us. We either trade it for talent or if we have a fs or zone kid coming to us, it will help immensely.

Of course it’s not ideal, but we can’t just assume another 1st won’t help us
Also Devils must also use some of their 2027 R1 picks for established players.

If they come chasing a Carlton player and cough up a R1, we could end up 3 R1s.

If Petracca gets to the Suns, Humphrey may be available in a Curnow deal. Straight swap suggested only. From a close business connection to GC. In response to a suggestion that we'd need more (like Walter), comment was that Walter may also be available for trade if Curnow went across (surplus forwards) but would require serious currency from us to get it done.

Given papley doesn’t want to move, perhaps 2 x 1sts + florent + dattoli? (Imo a better option that papley)
I'd be taking that in a heartbeat, and it's potentially achievable from both sides.

Over on the Swans board, there's a prominent poster who gets some pretty good info. Says that Charlie's management have contacted a number of Swans players about potentially being involved in a trade to Carlton. The issue we have is that these players have to agree to be traded, so we actually need to offer them something attractive.

Florent seems to be on the outer under Cox, so we can offer more game time. Could be a bit of a salary dump for them, so couldn't see them disagreeing. Dattoli signed a contract extension for another year back in May - we could potentially offer him an additional year and more $$ as a lure. He's also a local boy from Ivanhoe which could work in our favour. Whether the Swans are willing to trade him is another matter.

IMO we need to bring in talented youth, not a 30yo Papley for a short term sugar hit.

I also prefer to look at the collective at the end of the trade/draft period. A trade like that means that in 2026, we'll be bringing in the youth of Jagga, Dattoli, Dean and Ison - and you could even throw a 22yo Chesser into that lot. And the additional future 1st of course gives us currency for Cody next year.

Been reported Suns can’t get Petracca AND Curnow.
