Talked me into it, it's a yesOliver at 700k a season would be worth the risk. Is he likely to get back to his best? Maybe not, if he did how would that be? Prime Oliver distributing to Naicos for 3-4 years. Its a swing for the fences, but we are not in a position to pick up people with no question marks, so why not do it.
Clearly Oliver's confidence is shot, could a new coach turn that around? I get the sense if he gets a new start he knuckles down and plays well. (No doubt it will be for Geelong!!!)
You know it's $700k for the next 5 years? Not 3. And I think it's clear he's past his prime.Oliver at 700k a season would be worth the risk. Is he likely to get back to his best? Having to take him on for 5 years is the hard no for me.Oliver at 700k a season would be worth the risk. Is he likely to get back to his best? Maybe not, if he did how would that be? And Fin would stay on the list as long as pendles. If they did, we would have a list of 100 of manicpie chosen players lol

I think Melb should package them both together so May still has a team mate to walk into his fistsSame. Both him & May in the VFL![]()
The crucial part in your comment is:Its a smidgen above the average wage. Oliver 2-3 years ago was a top 10 mid in the game.
Id ask the question, is pick 40, 60 and 80 or Clayton Oliver more likely to lift us back to a premiership?
You know it's $700k for the next 5 years? Not 3. And I think it's clear he's past his prime.
doesn't really need AA form to improve our midfieldPeople are forgetting how average Oliver has been in the last 2 years plus the off field issues. He might improve but doubt he will be back to his AA best.
Is Cumberland still available? Asking for a friend. And Fin would stay on the list as long as pendles.

My preference would be to put those $ towards going all in for a gun midfielder who is younger & in their prime now for 2027 when we've lost Pendles & Sidey. My wish list includes Zac Butters.
That's why I said 2027. Butters can choose where he wants to go as a FA.Zac Butters costs x2 first round draft picks and probably something else though. Oliver will not. There is no way Butters leaves as a free agent, Port will match
They've offered Checkers a contract, they want to get rid of Oliver straight swapMelbourne have lost all their bargaining power, they just want him gone.
I'm hearing he's a better player than his dad, but has slipped under the radar.Malcolm's son apparently
Is Cumberland still available? Asking for a friend.
They'll get checkers for free through free agency, it'd have to be a seperate trade for Oliver. They've offered Checkers a contract, they want to get rid of Oliver straight swap
Are you for real? I never connected the 2 of them.Malcolm's son apparently

And it is also a popularity contest in part at the elite level. Oliver has been radioactive for two years so umps would not even be looking at him.Think we off all people should know that the brownlow medal is not a true indicator of a players effectiveness.
Trying to be serious.I can't work out if he's trying to be funny or he's serious![]()
After Mad Monday I'm not sure that line has worked.Couldn’t agree more say what you want about Oliver but if they pay $700k and we have to pay only $800k that’s not bad for us! Then unlike Melbourne we have Pendles, Steele ect to pull him up if he out of line like Dangerfield kind of does for smith at cats
