If a RFA who wants to leave, a matched offer from their original club creates an extra step in the process, requiring further negotiation for a trade or a move into the draft to finalize the change of clubs.

I would have no issues with the club selling their 26 and 27 first round picks for a stake in the 2025 draft. The first round of 2027 is all Tasmanian, it's been compromised. Mids the obvious agenda.

2025 draft isn't great if reports are true. Should be loading up on 26. Should also only be trading away 26 if used to land a gun like butters. Agree 2027 will be all about tassie

When a player is a FA/or OOC, these deals get done one way or another. Even if its less than what they would prefer. So even if they force a trade, they would have to accept what you have. Or he goes into the draft, where he goes anywhere and someone gets him for nothing.

If he wants to come home, he's given 8 years of service, I think port would be reasonable. You couldn't have asked for much more than what he has given that club. You can also trade 2 years in advance.

2027 we have some FS/NGA players. But they should come fairly cheap.
But Tassie dont have too many picks in that draft, and some of them have to be traded for players. The afl want other clubs to have picks in the first round.

HDM and Allan were drafted as mids and it doesn't look like either of them will be in our starting midfield.

HDM is essentially fin 2.0, so he will in all likelihood get the chop once his contract is up.

My concern is that his position is one we need to fill otherwise we're relying on Reef only. I'd rather lock him up sooner at the risk of another club getting him.
