Interesting if true.. hawks have had 2 & 4yr deals on the table for him since mid year.. don't think we'd be lowballing him on the cash Collingwood style and i've got it on good authority he wanted to stay if the price was right

Really up and down season. Thought he was ultimately displaced by some of the younger guys and struggled a little in different roles

I don't think you've lowballed him, but Cats are thin on inside mids, so him coming would probably be our number 1 inside mid so that probably appeals to him.
I image he's behind some of your other mids in the pecking order and even further if you get Merrett.

Not sure. Unlikely band 1. Most likely band 2-3 depending on the secret herbs and spices.
If we're not prepared to match we must be confident that it's an outcome that we're reasonably happy with.

True plus Geelong never really pay big dollars when it comes to FAs surely second round would be likely his a good player who takes Worps role now?

Hopefully Merrett or a fit Day. Balances our midfield a bit more. Too much grunt with Nash/Newcombe/Worpel. Need some speed/class.
Ward will likely get more inside midfield minutes. Had a bit of a breakout season but hopefully he can take the next steps.

Well that's my point we already have three guys who play a similar role to Worpel, so it won't be a like for like replacement.
See ball get ball - Nash has a bit more versatility as he can play as a defensive stopper but I've liked him playing a more selfish role from time to time this season. Was our best midfielder in the prelim loss against the Cats when he was able to hunt for the ball.
We'll have a more balanced midfield outfit in 2026.

Hope so but there's some whispers on the Hawks board his full time mid days might be over (at least for the time being). Maybe we'll play him as a Burgoyne 'break glass in emergency' type to try and keep him healthy through the year.
